(Please no computer jargon answers,as i don't understand it - sorry)
I'm doing an invoice on my Windows Office Excel, how i populate text from a cell into the same cell on another tab?
(It populates numbers, just not text)
Thanks in advance.|||Hi. There is a very simple method I use for doing that, and it works on both text and numbers.
Example:
In cell A15 on your sheet 1 tab you have a name, which you'd like to appear in cell A15 on your sheet 2 tab.
1. Click on your sheet 2 tab
2. Click cell A15
3. Type an = sign in the cell
4. Click on sheet 1 tab
5. Click cell A15 (it is now highlighted)
6. Press Enter
Now whatever you do to cell A15 on sheet 1, it will change A15 on sheet 2. You can test it by changing the text of A15 on sheet 1, or making it a number. Whatever you place in A15 on sheet 1 will show up on sheet 2.
Now, if you had numerous cells you need to do this with, just copy the A15 cell on sheet 2 and paste it into the other cells you need also on sheet 2.
Hope this helped :)
P.S. I use Excel 2000 and there is a template for an invoice on it. You can check your version to see if one already exists, if that would help you out. In your Excel, click on File, go to New, mine shows up in the Spreadsheet Solutions tab, Invoice.
If you need any other help, please feel free to email me.|||Say the text is in cell A6 on sheet1 and you want it on sheet2, go to cell A6 on sheet 2, type the = sign, click on sheet 1 tab, double click on cell A6 and enter and the external formula showing the contents of sheet 1 is there.
If there is more than one cell you want, you can group both worksheets by clicking on the first sheet, holding the shift key down and click on sheet 2. They are now linked. Highlight the data on sheet 1, right button copy, then up to edit, fill across worksheets and all data on sheet1 that you have highlighted also appear on the next worksheet.
This is invaluable when setting up multiworksheets so you have common headings and formulae. Don't forget to ungroup the sheets afterwards though by right clicking on one of the sheets and clicking ungroup.
After an update, my computer deemed my product key for my old windows 2007 office invalid. After explaining to my friend, he came over and installed a new windows office 2007 to my computer and the only difference I saw was that his was an enterprise. I asked him about it and he said he got it from a guy he new that worked with Fedex and that it was like a business version that could be installed into computers multiple times (he didn't even put in a product key).
Can anyone explain how his version was able to do this (bypass product key and install on multiple computers?) I did some search on enterprise and I still find that it is limited to a certain amount of installations, so how come his isn't limited. Or am I not fully understanding the enterprise version|||It's not *hacked*, your friend has an OPEN or CORPORATE LICENCE.
This is for large organisations who just buys one product key and copy for the software but can install it on multiple machines without activating it. They just have to make sure they buy the correct amount of licences it has installed on computers. For example, they would by 100 licences and install it on 100 machines. They could also install it on 200 machines if they wanted to and the product won't expire. However, Open or Corporate Licences are generally AUDITED randomly by a company contracted by Microsoft. So they do check up on the licences ever so often.
The idea behind OPEN/CORPORATE licences is that IT Staff can do massive roll outs of Office on company computers withint having to go and activate every single copy! Ie: Installing it on 200 computers and having to activate it all 200 machines would be a nightmare!
The software DOES REQUIRE a product key, but their IT staff would have packaged the product key INTO the install file so to make installation quicker. Hence why it looks like he's bypassing the product key - cause it's already 'wrapped' into the installation.
Your friend is therefore essentially 'stealing' his company's copy of Office. There may be a chance that later down the track, if this copy keeps on 'spreading', Microsoft will detect that there are 1000 copies of this product and it's key being used from multiple locations when Fedex only has 100 licences and will blacklist the product key (through Windows and Geniune Updates). This is what could potentially happen.
Hope that helps answer your question.|||His copy was hacked so it wouldn't ask for a key, happens all of the time. Illegal though.
I got the best anti-virus software i could find and it still didn't help. I was wondering if there is a way to completely erase the hard drive, without deleting the OS or Windows Office
All help is appreciated|||no need , it just needs cleaned up by someone who knows what they are doing almost never a need to reformat a pc . I read al these answers and questions here and i shake my head in disbelief . i have 11 PC 3 laptops , a server in my home / office none of them has ever been reformatted since installing the OS , never a virus , they are used and on damn near 24 - 7 run fast and
like new a little common sense and up keep goes a long way|||No dude, you can't erase or rather re-format your hard-disk without wiping your Windows OS as well.
If you have not already done so, you may wanna try the 30-day free trial Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008. It's abit out-dated I know. But hey, I downloaded it and helped me to get rid of some unknown viruses and trojans. It's just a small file of 65MB, which you may like to download from the link below :-

Hope you'll able to fix all problems.. best of luck|||Back up what you want by taking out your hard drive and poping it into another computer or external hard drive caseing. Once you have done that. wipe your hard drive clean. If you use Linux or OSx 10.5 for intel you will have a more useful computer and you will never have to worry about virus's again. The bottom line is that any thing to do with Microsoft is bad news. MS Windows is s**t|||That wouldn't be possible, considering the viruses are embedded in Windows.
What is it consider as the "best antivirus software"?
Although I use only free software, I find the best combination for viruses is Avira Free Edition, and Malwarebytes anti-malware.
I would urge you to try malwarebytes if you havn't already. I can't tell you how many computers I have fixed with this software. It's free too! Nothing to lose.
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant鈥?/a>|||not posible. They are woven into each other. The virus is in the windows files too so that wouldn't help.|||If your AV has identified the virus then it may be possible to download a spike from Norton or symantec that specifically targets the virus and can remove it.
Maybe take out your drive, connect it as a slave to another system and scan&clean it from that system, although this may also trash the OS but you may get away with a repair instead of a reinstall afterwards.
But reformat & re-install is the easiest|||No, sorry it's all or nothing
it's really easy to reinstall Windows though as long as you have your CD|||You can do a system restore... That will definately correct a lot of your problems.
If not, I suggest kaspersky.com. Yes malwarebytes is FREE and is decent, but kaspersky is a powerful full version anti virus, and has a FREE trial. So, when people are having serious issues, don't get something that is free 24/7, 365. Go out, download the best, use the 30 day free trial to keep clean, then buy or uninstall it.
This method is better than a OS install, and can sometimes save the day. I use it only as a last resort since you won't be able to get another 30 day trial unless you're good with registry.
Either way, you are back to a clean system for 30 days. In that time download the free stuff, and don't mess up again.
Using Windows Office in XP how do I make fonts as large as I wish. The format bar menu only goes up to 72 point. I'd like to make something 140 or larger.|||Go up to the menu bar and highlight the font size, i.e. "72", then just type over it, "140". Voila!
Or.... Hightlight the text...then hold the <Ctrl> key down and press the ] bracket, this will make the text larger, or [ will make it smaller.|||Sorry, but that is as far as the program will allow you to go.|||I suggest that you use Wordart. There you can choose a bigger size and you can drag your letter to an even bigger size afterwards.
Circuit city said that all the "free trials" on my new PC were going to slow it down by 33% and it would be best to erase everything and add only windows office. Of course there would be a $40 charge.|||Ok, so from what you have written, I take it you bought a "new" computer. For some reason you have returned it to where you bought it. If we are to assume you returned it for "service" because it appears "slow", or seems "slower" than when you bought it, then what you have written makes sense.
If this is not the case than what you have written makes no sense, maybe you should try again.
Ok, so if you are still with me then I have kinda guessed right.
Installing "free trials", and other assorted GARBAGE, on a computer will slow it down. To regain your original speed this stuff must be removed.
As to the $40 charge, well you added the crap, and someone must pay to remove it, and it's not covered under warranty.
What happens here:
When I build and sell a computer your "first one" (repair due to user error) is free. Next time it's $60.
But..........you could have used your restore disk(s) to erase and re-program your computer at home for free.|||They are right... the trials will slow down your PC and are usually worthless. I certainly wouldn't pay for the service though. Download PC Decrapifier and give it a run. It'll do the same thing for you and it's free and easy to use.
Download it here:
http://pcdecrapifier.com/download
List of some of the things it will help you remove:
http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/apps|||I don't know what software you are using, but they might just be telling the truth. A lot of software has bits that load up when Windows loads and which stays running in some way even if you are not using it directly (Desktop widgets and Anti-virus, for example). These programs take up system resources and slow your PC down.
Of course, the answer might be that it's easier and cheaper for them to erase everything on your PC and to restore it to its factory default settings, than for them to find the actual problem. $40 isn't all that much for a service like that. Even at what those guys get paid they would likely not be able to find and fix a problem without racking up more than $40 in wages alone.|||The free trials are crap and you should remove them.
However their 40 charge is crap. Tell them your not paying crap, you are purchasing your PC from them so they should do it for free...if they can't then go somewhere else, they are overpriced in regards to products. In my opinion and from my experience some of their people couldn't program or troubleshoot a speak and spell toy let alone a PC.|||I agree with them. they will, and most of that stuff is useless anyway. I wouldn't spend $40 though. Download a utility called ccleaner, http://www.ccleaner.com It was formerly called crap cleaner and was origionally designed to remove this kind of stuff off of new computers.
Once you are done with that here is a great article listing free software you should download to replace the "free trials" you deleted. In most cases, the free alternatives are better than the crap your computer manufacturer crammed on to your hard drive. There are even a couple of free alternatives to MS Office on this list.
http://www.download.com/8301-2007_4-9835鈥?/a>|||Yes that is true but let's be honest here.
Circuit City did NOT make that PC. They sold it. They have a service department that probably knows a lot more about the equipment than you.
That extra crapola on your new computer will certainly slow it down as most of it is running in the background when you boot up, instantly ready for you to use. Ready to use and taking up CPU Cycles rather than you click on an icon and have it running 3 seconds later.
About the $40.00 charge. Can YOU do it without messing up your computer? Do you trust some FREE ???? program to do it for you rather than muck up your system with more junk?
Why don't you see if they can clean your new computer of the junk and then make you a RESTORE CD of the system at the time they clean everything off. That way, if something goes screwy in the future, you just RESTORE to the day they gave it back to you.
I know Best Buy has a service like that.
The main word is ' Service '. If you can't do it, you pay the ones that can. That's paying for a SERVICE.
Sarge|||You can remove a lot of the pre-installed trial programs yourself from the add and remove Icon in the control panel. Why pay some one else to do what you can do?

Because, in the end, software will be your biggest expense over the life of the computer. So if you intend to only do letters, spreadsheets, presentations, then you've already figured that out. Taxes may be listed in there as well though you may have to find and calculate the normal Federal and State income taxes on your own.
You have listed some pretty general skills so I'm not sure where to direct you exactly.

Your best bet is to monitor your child's use of the internet. You don't always have to be sitting there with him or her, but you should ask them about what they are viewing, and even talk to them about the dangers of pornography and their effect on our thinking about the nature of men and women and sexuality.
Additionally, you can buy something like Net Nanny or other software that blocks popular, common sites. Make sure all search engines your children use are set to "Filter Contents." Moderate filtering is OK, and Strict filtering will usually cause a lot of complaining from the kids.
If you worry about them a lot and want t know what's going on, you can purchase and install Covenant Eyes, a program that resides on the computer at all times and sends a copy of all visited websites to a user-defined e-mail address (yours!). Then, you can review what your kids are up to on the internet. I had a roommate who used this to help himself, and after getting permission, I did everything I could to try to disable the program and make sure it didn't report sites: I couldn't. I'm pretty tech savvy, but this program is well ingrained into the system (you can always delete it if you want to, but need the password).
Covenant Eyes cost a certain amount per month/year.
Ultimately, it is up to you to monitor your children. Do this by proactively asking them about their internet habits, talking to them about the dangers, keeping all internet-capable computers in open areas, and using basic blocking software and features.
Go into Internet Settings, and you'll find some very basic content filtering that Internet Explorer can perform, but it's not all that great. Sites must identify themselves as inappropriate for children, and any that don't are invisible to most blocking software. Besides, there's always a way around it.
Also, be on the lookout for file sharing programs that can distribute pornography as well, such as Limewire, Kazaa, eMule, Gnutella, etc. Additionally, video content is accessible via iTunes, so go into iTunes and disable anything beyond R, or Pg-13, whatever you prefer.|||There is simple method which i was using for internet explorer some months ago, its very good particularly if u dont want to buy softwares for blocking these sites. In internet explorer click on TOOLS->internet options->content.In the content advisor tab click on "enable".Now in the general tab, click on "supervisor can type password...." in the user USER OPTIONS tab and click on "create password" in the supervisor password tab. Now you will have to build a sort of approved sites' list. Each time u will go on a site IE will ask u for the password.U choose among the three options.if u choose "always allow web site to be viewed" then u will not have to type the password again else password will have to be entered. As for your children, you can allow several sites which you fit for them by typing the password. 2) Created limited accounts for each of your children, and set, or allow them to set, passwords so they can have privacy from each other.
3) You can use two approaches to protecting your children from offensive content. One is to use parental control software - these packages typically rely on a continually updated list of offensive sites, and sometimes use image sensing to block offensive images. Most companies will use a solution like websense.
basically these filter websites via a predetermined list that updates. the kid programs will offer additional options like a time period that the computer can be used and other goodies. I would just advise you to do some research on them before going with one.
You can certainly create a separate windows login for them without admin privileges and use content control within the browser and even group policy without additional software.

This fall I'm majoring in Legal Assisting Technology, which requires the use of most Windows Office programs. One of my classes is an online course, thus I'm considering purchasing a laptop. Mac's are becoming increasingly popular but I will be using Windows programs. Is it possible to get Windows programs on a Mac? What laptop would you recommend?|||I too am a paralegal major going for my BS and I am quite happy with the basic DELL model with a version of Office student edition added.
Good Luck. This is a great profession.
P.S. The big bucks are in litigation and federal criminal appeals.|||apple anything|||yes you can use windows based programs on a mac with about a $200 or more program.acer has some good laptops. but get atleast 2gbs of ram, as much hard drive as possible, once you get it home delete un needed programs it will be loaded with bs programs that will create havok with windows vista. if you special order you can still get xp from what i have heard. also macs are no safer than a windows based pc they are all vulnerable to viruses, trojans and so on. so plan on getting avg free, spybot s&d, and adaware.|||If you want a Macintosh, you can simply load Windows on to it too, providing you have a copy or are willing to buy a copy. That way you'd have the benefit of both OS X and Windows.

1 year of school or less:
If you have 1 year of schooling or less remaining, I recommend a laptop for a workplace over one for a student. In a workplace, u'll need a wider variety of ports such as paralled ports, serial etc so that u can connect whatever equipment to your laptop. U might also need a floppy drive.
Most laptops nowadays dont come with those anymore, so u'll need to get them separately. External floppy drives are available as from 30 dollars canadian.
Parallel ports and serial ports can be obtained using docking stations or thru USB converters available in most computer
stores.
If you have more than 1 year of schooling:
I recommend a tablet pc. Although expensive, these are the most practical computers for a student as they allow you to take notes directly on ur laptop. No more need for paper. Profs post their notes online nowadays so u just have to open their notes and add to them during class b4 u print or u can always read on-screen. An alternative to tablet pcs (their configs are really bad compared to a normal laptop) is to buy a normal laptop and to get a USB tablet and stylus. With Vista, this combination immediately makes ur laptop into a tablet pc.
Windows based laptops are cheaper than macs and so far, their configs are also better. More software are available on windows than macs. Since most ppl use windows, u can be sure, IT support anywhere will have someone qualified to help u on windows.
Toshiba is a reliable brand. We had a Toshiba for 4-5 yrs now and we have never had any trouble with it. They are however heavy laptops.
I recently got a Dell. It's not too bad... but I only just got it. So can't say much about it. Cross fingers, it will be as good as toshiba.
Whatever you do, get a laptop with 2 GB ram at least. If u will be doing a lot of graphics stuff, get a graphics card with its own memory... not shared ones.
That's about it.
Hope this post was a little help.
Cheers.|||Yes, now you have to go through a process called boot camp to run windows through Apple. It is suposed to be slower than a pc on windows and not compatible to some software. Both of these are free downloads and are very good. Personally I wouldn't use Norton as it is not all it's cracked up to be. Norton slows down your system and misses some things which the others find. I've proved this by running a full scan with Norton and after it had done a clean-up I ran another scan using AVG and it found some items which Norton had missed. My computer is about 7 yrs old, has a memory expansion, windows XP with windows office 2007, and works better than any crappy windows vista PC.
Can it withstand the change and is it worth the money?|||I would not recommend upgrading to Windows 7 with a 7 year old computer. Mainly due to a few factors:
* It requires a 2GB RAM minimum to start up, 4GB+ for more functionality.
* All your parts need to be traded out for Vista/7 to function properly. Several parts on a 7 year old computers are not compatbile with either OS version.
** Video card incompatibility
** Sound card incompatibility
** CPU incompatibility probable
** Modem, ethernet card, etc incompatibility more likely
Plus 7 uses a good deal of Vista speed and you'll only perform good on Basic even if you up to 2GB or 4GB if at all possible.
I would save up and purchase a new computer or have one pre-built to meet Windows 7 minimum or highest value ($1000 for the best entertainment).|||You will not have the video memory for Aero (the ATI 9000 only has 64Mb). ~~ There are 2 ways.
The best way.
Your best bet for removing film from residential glass is to soak them in soapy water, using the garbage bag method . Spray soapy water all over the window then take a plastic trashbag that you have opened up or plastic sheets and press the plastic against the wet window. This holds the moisture against the window. Let them soak for an hour or so, then you will need to use a wide razor scraping tool (about 4" wide razor blade scrapers are available at the hardware store) to remove the film and adhesive.
Concentrate on removing all of the film, then spray the window with more soapy water and use a new blade to remove the left over adhesive.
You can also try removing tint using a Steamer
If you have access to a Jiffy steamer or similar steam machine, you can make quick work of tint removal. Apply the steam to a small spot for a few moments and use a blade or the spout of the steamer to peel the area just steamed, when you have enough to hold, just peel slowly as you steam just ahead of the area you are peeling.
This will bring both layers of tint off and sometimes the adhesive too, without presoaking for an hour.
DO NOT use a hot steamer on a cold day it will shatter the window. Use the steamer on a hot or warm window only.|||try a flat razor blade/ scraper type
I am going to be a student in college this year and I just bought a laptop but it does not have any Windows Office. I looked up online for the newest one and saw it was window 2007 which cost $150 but windows 2003 cost $50. but its all down to your budget if you can afford 2007 I recommend that but if you are like a bog standard student and cant afford it 2003 would be your best option, but remember that 2007 has a more professional feel and look to it (I personaly splashed out on 2007 as a student and love the effects it produces)|||I would get the windows 2003, things are easier to find and if your friend gives u a document and hes has 2007, you can still open it using this from microsoft, and all u have to do is download and install it. THATS NOT EVEN HARD!
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai鈥?/a>

2003 is cheap now...4 years ago i brought it for 200 dollars, and it hasnt failed me yet
btw, nice car >_<|||2007 is more user friendly.
If you get 2003 you'll need to download a free compatibility pack form Microsoft in order to view 2007 office files.
If all you are planning on doing is basic word processing/spreadsheets then you can just go with 2003. Heck you could go with 2000 or 97 if you're not going to do anything too advanced.|||I think that this site will very well guide you the difference in between 2003/2007

Steps to restore a computer to a previous Windows installation after you install Windows Vista
Step 1: Determine whether there is a Windows.OLD folder and whether there is sufficient free space on the Windows hard disk
1. Click Start, and then click Computer.
2. On the View menu, click Details.
3. In the Free Space column, note how much space is available for Local Disk (C:) under the Hard Disk Drives area.
4. In the Hard Disk Drives area, double-click Local Disk (C:), and then determine whether the Windows.OLD folder exists.
Important If the Windows.OLD folder does not exist, you cannot follow the steps in this article to restore the previous Windows installation to this computer.
5. Right-click the Windows.OLD folder.
6. Windows Vista will determine the size of the folder after several seconds.
Determine whether the Windows.OLD folder is smaller than the free space that is available for Local Disk (C:) in step 2.
Note If the Windows.OLD folder is two times as large as the free space that is available for the Local Disk (C:) entry, you may be unable to restore the previous Windows installation.

Microsoft are hoping that with a bigger workforce more problems can be found and fixed, however be warned if you choose to use it in everyday life it is unstable and saves in a new format meaning if you remove the beta it is difficult to get your files saved with Office 14 back to Office 12 format.|||Office Beta is Microsoft's pre-release version of Office 2010. They want people to try it and see if there are any bugs in it that need fixed before the final product is released in October.

And yes, it is compatible with all the programs and services you just mentioned.

Windows Outreach Team|||Windows 7 is an operating system: it is the successor of Windows Vista.
Microsoft Office is a really good set of programs. But Open office is for free and is for most purposes just as good. So download Open Office install it and if you afterward really think you have to have MS Office, well there is nothing to stop you.
Remember when you create documents in Open Office to be sure to save them on MS Office format. Otherwise you can get into problems if you send the documents over to others.|||Hi there,
Windows 7 is the best operating system Microsoft has "come up with" yet.
There are several versions of Windows 7. The version you want is Windows 7 Premium.
Win 7 Basic is a very "stripped down" version and does not have any of the good features of Premium.
Win 7 Starter edition is stripped down even more and (personally) I would prefer windows XP to it.
There also are 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 7. If you have a choice the 64 bit version is able to address more memory but some hardware does not have drivers for the 64 bit version.
The 32 bit version can use almost all of 4 gigabytes of ram and any application or hardware for Vista should work in Win 7 32 bit.
I have Win 7 Premium (32 bit) and am very happy with it. I have Windows XP on two other computers and Win 7 is faster and has better security.
Once you have Win 7 go ahead and download Microsoft Live Essentials to get an e-mail program and photo viewer. (they are not included in Win 7 but are a free download).
Also download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. It is a fast, free download from MS that includes antivirus and anti-spyware programs. They update daily and do not slow down your computer. I use MSE on my Win 7 computer and really like it.
Second question: Microsoft Office
MS Office is great software. It is a little expensive but works well and shares the same "controls" between all the different applications. It has everything you need in an office suite.
But:
There is a very good alternative to MS Office called "Open Office". It has all the same applications and is about 97% compatible with any of the Office applications. Open Office is a free, open source suite of applications that competes very well.
My recommendation is if your computer comes with MS Office use it. However before buying MS Office try Open Office first (it may be all that you need).
FYI: All my earlier applications for Windows XP and even windows 95 do work in Windows 7.
Hope this helps and is not confusing,
al|||If we are talking simply usability, then it is very user friendly, offering useful features such as a search bar built into your start menu (saves me lots of time) and being able to click and drag documents to compare side by side.
For compatibility, generally speaking it is compatible with almost everything. You can definitely use facebook, msn, and all other social networking programs with it. You will, however, run into some problems when it comes to driver compatibility and older programs. But if you don't expect to be doing anything too complicated then you won't ever run into these problems.
I use Microsoft Office and I am very pleased with it. In fact it is all that I've used my whole life (except for Wordpad back in the day when I didn't know any better). Other people opt for other options (OpenOffice), but this is usually a matter of preference.
On the technical side, ask the person who is getting Windows 7 for you if the machine that you are running it on will be able to run it well. Windows 7 is more resource demanding than XP, and you should have AT THE VERY LEAST 2GB of RAM, 4GB being the recommended amount. Anything less than 2GB and go with XP.|||It's easy to use and yes it compatible with older programs, the windows software is easy to use and you'll have fun using it. The design of windows 7 is aesthetically pleasing if you change the themes and customize it the way you want to. Good luck :)

Download from Open Office. org|||Your laptop did NOT come with Microsoft Office. They key on the bottom of your computer that you used is for Microsoft WINDOWS, not Office. The laptop DID come with a 60-day trial of Office, which has now expired. You actually need to go to the store and buy a copy of Office if you want to keep using it.|||you have to contact microsoft about that. you might have to get another copy
I just got a job at a high security place dealing with electronics fund transfers. The IT department is really strict on people installing outside programs onto their network. They say: DON"T DO IT!
Anyways, it sucks a whole lot and makes my work hours last a lifetime. Is there any way I can write a program or create a script in DOS to speed up my work? I need any that will help me speed up data-entry.
Please share your insight. Anything would do, even writing a script that runs on short-cut key would save me a lot of time. I can only use Windows Office and Explore. Do HTML allows me to do any type of programming? I know its not really a programming language but can it function as one? Please help.|||HTML cannot function as some sort of programming/scripting language. I recommend looking into JavaScript and/or VBScript.
I have Windows Office that is compatible with the Macbook. I have to write an APA-style paper, with the "Running head" title on the first page, and the shortened title (in the header) for the remainder of the pages. How do I do that? This paper is due on Tuesday, so I need someone's help asap! Thanks!|||You're not likely to get a one hour lesson on using Word here. Click on Help > Word Help. Type "headers" in the search and read about seven of the articles that offer help with this detailed design. That will explain it fully.
"Create a different header or footer for part of a document
When you create a header or footer, Word automatically uses the same header or footer throughout the entire document. To create a different header or footer for part of a document, divide the document into sections, and then break the connection between the header or footer in the current section and the previous one.
1. If you haven't done so already, insert a section break that creates a new page where you want the different header or footer.
2. Click in the section for which you want to create a different header or footer.
3. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
4. If necessary, move to the header or footer you want to change.
5. On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Same as Previous to break the connection between this section and the previous section.
6. Change the existing header or footer, or create a new one for this section.
Word automatically makes the same changes to the headers or footers for all subsequent sections7. To create a different header or footer for another section, repeat steps 1 through 6.

If you have a computer that originally came pre-installed with Windows XP than it has an OEM license. Most manufacturers nowadays place the license key somewhere on the outside of the case. If you have that original license key than all you need to do is get a copy of Windows XP Oem version (it must be an OEM CD, a retail CD version will not work with an OEM license key) from someone and use that original license key to reinstall Windows. HI, im trying to send my CV out, I used word 2007 & saved it as a 2003-2007 .doc file. But the thing I've found with both this file format and others for example rich text, is that the original layout is not kept, sometimes it comes up as jargon and other times the layout is completely ruined. As it is my Cv I want the file to retain its original layout every time I send it to a prospective job advertisement. Is there a format that is generally universal, that will retain my original layout as im worried that the majority of people don't have word 2007 for example and wont be able to view my CV correctly. Or are there other ways that you can suggest (I was thinking about converting it into a pdf format possibly?)
thanks|||If you save a Word document in rtf or txt format you will definitely lose formatting if you have set it out using tables or tabs or graphics. However, there should be absolutely no problems in saving in 1997-2003 format, i.e. .doc as opposed to .docx.
I would advise however saving as pdf format and this is easy as it is a free add in with Office 2007.

'The operating system is not currently configured to run this application'
I have already turned off the User Account Contro (UAC).
Any ideas what to do now??
By the way,I got this MS Office 2003 through 'file sharing'.|||When you say you copied it to the new laptop, I assume you meant that you ran the setup program for office and entered your serial/cd Key numbers. You can not simply copy the files to a computer.
If the installation did not give you any errors, then the file sharing did not download all the correct files, or they are corrupted.
You will need to purchase the MS Office program, or use openoffice.org or IBM Symphony - both are free alternatives.
Just bought a MAC and I got iWorks with it. (Store person talked me into it) but I'm kinda regreting it cause I keep reading that it is SEMI compatible with windows office which I don't want. This embeds all fonts etc. and you won't have any issues with text reflowing etc.
These problems occur when the recipient does not have the same fonts as you for example and are not specific to either iWork or Office 2008, nor the mac/pc platform as such.|||iWork is compatible with Microsoft Office Programs, all you have to go is save the file as a MS Office file (Whatever it may be, a Word (Pages), PowerPoint (Keynote), or Excel (Numbers). I have no way to test this, so it is only a thought, but try saving multiple copies of the file and in the box below the file name, is something like file type.
Make a copy and save as every available file type, and then transfer them to the new word and see if any of them work.

I just bought Microsoft Office Student 2008 software for my Mac laptop and I plan to put Microsoft Office Student 2010 on my Windows 7 desktop. I have had very little experience with any word/excel etc. program and am completely lost. I decided to buy a book instead of just using the online help.
My question is since I am getting the same basic program except for two different operating systems, would either book tell me what I need to know to work the program on both computers? In other words if I get a Windows Office 2010 book, would it be close to what I will have on my Mac (I realize it wouldn't be exactly the same). I really need help and am just not sure what to get.
Thanks|||The interface is quite a bit different. All the major features (font and color for instance), are the same, but other than that, the Mac version still has a menu bar, and a Photoshop-like toolbox instead of the ribbon. Also, don't get too attached to the UI on the Mac version- Office 2011 for Mac comes out later this year (you get it for free if you bought Office 2008 after August 1st), and it uses the Ribbon interface, similar to the one in Office 2010. I have a Macbook Pro (and after being a PC user my entire life, I am never going back to PCs), and I have iworks on it. The apple representative I talked with assured me it would work the same as windows office.
LIES.
Now, I actually do enjoy iworks. Theres a lot of cool functions in it that windows office never had. But what's annoying is that iworks does not save files into .doc format. Just not possible. And while practically every computer I know of can open .doc files (which you can only get if you have windows office), only another mac can open another mac file it seems.
This makes sending documents extremely annoying to your recipients unless you want to convert your documents to .pdf format every time, and that isn't always the best option.

Alright folks, I don't even know if this is possible, but I've been given a task at work which i would like to automate if possible. Basically, I have to:
- Read .csv filenames from a windows folder
- Correlate a known string from each filename to a set of (known) character strings
- Create a table with that name in an Access database
- Copy a bunch of cells from the csv file into the corresponding Access table (always the same cells in the csv files)
Given that I have limited programming experience, and no windows scripting experiencing (though i have shell scripted in linux), can you recommend:
1) A tool to use for this?
2) Resources on this topic?
3) Method for how to do this?
Thanks in advance for any of the above.|||1) Use access
2) http://www.bcschools.net/staff/AccessHelp.htm

If you need to link these imported tables with another master table, you can JOIN them with a simple query in access.
I am planning to get the Office student version that comes with 3 licences.
2 of these would go on the two computers I will have at home. However sometimes when I visit my family I use my mother's computer for my coursework and would like to have Office there.
Can I install this on my mother's computer even though I do not own the computer, it is at a different address and she would use the computer more than me over time?
Without buying the package I can't tell if the 3 licences must be on 3 computers owned by the same person/ in the same house or as I use my mother's computer for study I can include that one too.
Thanks in advance for advice.|||The spirit of the license is that you are supposed to install it on one computer and then use the other 2 licenses to make it more convenient to install the software on other computers in your same household, in the case that you own more than one computer and need to move around to different computers in your own home.
You aren't really supposed to use the other 2 licenses to provide to say friends and relatives who live elsewhere. Saying this, I doubt you would get any trouble over it since you paid for the software and that's better than using a pirate copy but if it ever went legal (doubtful) you should know that the purpose of the 3 licenses is to provide convenience to the person who purchased the software.
Basically, use your own discretion and common sense, you can read the full terms of the software at this web site:

I recently updated my computer to include Windows Office 7...unfortunately, the licensing code had been used one too many times & I was unable to register my computer. Upon opening any programs it would warn that I only had so many more times to use the programs without registration before I lost certain capabilities - I thought it'd be something unimportant to me like creating graphs, etc., but instead I can't even type a word. Can I simply re-install an older version of Office over the new one or do I have to unistall?|||I'm afraid you're out of luck. Downloading and installing another free trial copy of Office 2007 (not Office 7) won't get you another 25 uses. Microsoft has that loophole closed.|||you first have to unistall in order to install an older version. you can麓t have two versions at the same time in the same computer.
i going to buy a new computer with Windows Vista, but the new windows office is expensive, ao im asking will Windows XP Office work on Vista OS...|||http://forumz.tomshardware.com/software/鈥?/a>
list of hardware AND some software that is vista compatible. I believe all versions of office AFTER 2003 are vista compatible, I just can't find the other list.|||XP Office is essentially just a version number - it doesn't mean it's made for XP particularly. So it -should- work, just as Office 95 will work on Windows 98. That being said, Vista has lots of compatibility problems, so it may not just cause it's buggy.|||noooooooo|||Don't buy that computer!!!!!!! Vista is still relatively new and there are alot of bugs that still need to be worked out. The new upgrades to Office really don't warrant buying it, not yet. XP is just fine. Don't create more problems for yourself. Vista looks good and has some nice new features but the internal workings aren't 100%.

miss it can I get it for free please advice|||Firstly which is it you have lost is it windows or office, they are two different products. Windows is your operating system (such as XP or Vista), Office would be version 2000, 2003 or 2007. With regards to either of these it all depends on which version you had to start with. If it is an OEM version then you will need the original disc and key. If a business type version as long as you have the key you could potential use a disc from anyone else, as it is your key which denotes the licensing.
If you can't do this then there are alternatives out there, instead of Office try OpenOffice go to http://openoffice.org (ITS FREE)|||Run a system restore - Restore your computer to a time before you lost your program. If you can't get it back, download open office ( http://www.openoffice.org/ ) it's a lot like Windows Office, but it's free. You can save files in .DOC format, so it can be opened by other Word programs.|||restore your computer back to early date when u haven't lost it

2. In Windows XP exist system utility named as system restore. in This programm try restore system before uninstall.|||Reinstall it, hey what do ya know the CD is right next to me :D|||You need the install CD to re-install it. After that just do a normal re-install and you should be good.|||re-install it and make sure you have the product key|||Windows XP restore:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp鈥?/a>
Microsoft Office can be reinstalled, or repaired if still installed. If you removed it from Add/Remove programs or used the CD to uninstall, it can't be restored except by XP/ME restore or a previously installed "Go Back" type of program.
If you simply deleted some files, you might be able to restore them from the Recycle Bin on the desktop.
Otherwise, you can use a hard drive undelete/file restore program. Find them at download.com, tucows.com, and many other sites.
Otherwise, I agree with the other posters: reinstall from CD. (But presumably you would have thought of this and not asked the question using the word "restore.")|||Try running system restore and roll it back a an eailer date..If you have XP|||i usually use a "system restore" when i accidently remove a progam. im not sure if windows carries the "system restore" program from the windows software itself. if it doesn't, then you can just run the system restore program from your computer. if it does, then you will mostly likely need to re-download the windows software. if it is a newer computer, it normally comes with the windows software cd when you buy it. if not, then you'll probably need to go and purchase the software again which sucks.|||Go to start.

i also have dvd and cd burner. is that going to work as the same way after i install everything on my comp or dop they have any installation software for them?|||I am assuming you are using Windows XP. Before you start to re-install anything on your computer make sure any important documents are backed up.
If you are using Windows XP that operating system will automatically install drivers for your hardware/devices. All other software programs such Word/excel will have to be re-installed to the computer using the original disks.|||Every thing will work the same as before when you install, as long as you have the software, i.e. Burning software etc.|||if your dvd / cd burner is from leading brand, chances are your OS will recognize that but if not, get ready the driver CD.
If you misplace the driver CD, try searching on the internet for your burner. Make sure you get the specific model driver.|||you might have to run the mother board instalation disk, If its windows it might pik them up, but if it did not you will have to run the instalation disk they came with.|||it all depends on the age of your computer also which Windows you are installing on your computer.... if you are installing Windows 2000 or XP there's a pretty good chance that all your devices will work without a problem if not then you might have a little issue. As for getting the software that you need for each device that wont work...you'll have to go to each one's website and download the drivers 90% of these will be free. The DVD and CD burner really wont have a problem with XP....but the DVD playback will you'll probably have to buy something for that like... WinDVD and that's available online......so good luck but for the most part it'll be ok|||It depends if you have the installation disks and drivers. and more important if you can activate windows if you are running windows xp.|||Everything will work after you install all the software|||reformat your pc...

This is driving me crazy! I installed Windows Office 2007 onto my computer less than a month ago. It was working great in both user accounts on my computer but then I had to delete one of the user accounts because of weird unrelated complications. So I was created a new user account, but now when I use that account I cannot find Microsoft Office in my programs. This is a standard user account. But when I go to the administrator user account, Microsoft Office is there! What the hell?!
Also, another problem ... I downloaded (then completely deleted) Bear Share from my computer. Now everytime I start up any of the accounts on my computer, I get this weird message from Windows Live One Care Firewall asking me to either block, allow, or temporary block my computer from accessing Bear Share. But I erased it! What the hell again!?!? How can I get this message to disappear?
Thanks!|||Answer to you second question is that you still have bear share in you computer. so you have to delete it completely from add/remove program. can be found if you go to control panel > add/remove programs..

If you're getting this error, the CAB is likely corrupt, or the disk/drive is faulty.|||If it is a legal version you can go to microsoft.com and get software downloads and updates.
Specifically....
Do the files save as the same type as they would on a PC?
ie:
Word = .doc
Excel = .xls
Powerpoint = ppt.
etc...|||Yes. So long as in Mac, you specifically tell the Mac to save as .doc, or whatever, then Windows can read it.... Windows automatically saves as .doc, to transfering the other way around isnt a problem.

I mean the various updates for windows, office etc with SP1. Should i delete them? the updates are eating the hard drive.|||Don't uninstall the updates that were provided by Vista SP1.
According to this page ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows鈥?/a> ), both Service Packs need to be installed -- and you need to install SP1 before you install SP2. I think you should do. It depends on what the updates covers.|||I don't think there is a way to delete them. Your not supposed to anyway. If you hard drive is getting full use a disk cleanup utility.
Search Google for ccleaner.|||Don't delete them because, for one, you won't save that much space. And, if the fixes were in SP2 then the files that you downloaded with the other updates were replaced by the SP2 ones - not taking up additional space.
Hi!
Where can I get a free Microsoft Office download or a cheap one? I lost the product key code for our laptop we just purchased, and now we are locked out of the trial version... :( HELLLLLP PLEASE|||Microsoft Office isn't the only choice you have these days - and the alternatives are FREE and more compatible with older versions of Office formats than the new MS Office is. Go figure!*
You would probably do better with the independently developed product Open Office, which is both free and widely used. It's at http://openoffice.org - download it and break free from Microsoft's format lock-in.
There's also the new Lotus Notes - now owned and developed by IBM, based on Open Office but more geared toward big companies. IT'S ALSO FREE, so the question becomes: why pay Microsoft for a product that's not even compatible with their earlier versions when their competition does it all for free?
An extremely carefree choice - if you don't mind editing tied to the Internet - is Google Docs - free but not very useful off line. Google Docs is great for those who move between 'net-connected computers, but can be frustrating to those who commute or spend significant time with a computer separated from the Internet.
There's no substitute for having a stand-alone office suite on your computer, even if Google Docs is your main approach. That's why OOo is the way to go.
Good luck!
---
* My observation is that Microsoft plans obsolescence - purposely not supporting old Office formats and/or adding "new improved" formating to encourage [force] purchase of their latest and greatest suite. They behave the same with new versions of their Windows OS - XP being the latest target for encouraged [forced] upgrade.|||You NEVER HAD a product key for it! It was a trial version. Ever since I installed a pirate copy of windows office I have been experiencing some problems with Explorer. Not sure if there is a connection.|||Yes! Microsoft has a new WGA security thing, which it gets into your computer by automatic updates. The thing seems kind of like a virus. It keeps popping up and saying that you have a counterfeit copy of Windows. You can still go on using it like you normally do, but it's annoying as hell. When I asked them for clarification and told them what their web page said they told me it was wrong and they would correct it. Quite frankly license agreements for this product depend on what version of Office you have. Best way to know for sure is to check the license agreement in your current copy.
For Office 2007 this is how you check it:
To view the Microsoft Software License Terms for your product after it is installed, do one of the following in these 2007 Microsoft Office system programs:
Access, Excel, PowerPoint, or Word
Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Program Name Options, where Program Name is the name of the program you are in, for example, Word Options.
Click Resources, and then click About.
Click View the Microsoft Software License Terms.
For other versions it should be under Help -> About if I remember right

Also, is there any Dell laptop you would avoid, had bad experiences with?|||if you're thinking of buying a laptop you should check out this site first. they give you a sony vaio laptop for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.|||I think what you want is a desktop replacement. The Dell Vostros are well priced, and give decent performance. If you want a better looking laptop you can go with the HPs or the Dell Inspiron line. As for Dell laptops to avoid I don't know of any. I do know that they have lousy customer support, and they had an incident with the batteries exploding a few years ago. I would avoid Celeron processors, and 2 GB of RAM should be the minimum on a Vista system. I'm not sure if that link will actually work or not, but, just in case it doesn't, all you have to do is get the the laptops on dell.com under "Home & Home Office" and check the cheapest group (Dell Inspiron Notebooks). One of those would probably be fine for what you want to do. Just make sure you have enough Memory (at least 2GB, I'd say) and hard drive space (anything 250GB and up is good).|||If it is not being used for gaming, you will need a laptop with a sizable hard drive, at least 80GB. You will need a good chunk of memory/RAM, at least 512 [2GB if being used for Vista], and most of all, good battery life. Most other features would be irrelevant if its being used at home.
If you can pick up a laptop that comes without an OS or comes with Linux, that'll save you heaps of money. If you do that, get and install Ubuntu Linux (ubuntu.com), and learn how to use it. Its fairly easy to use, but may take some time, but getting your laptop ~$250 cheaper is far worth it, and Ubuntu supports loads of applications to do with home use :)
Regarding Vista: My advice is, avoid it like the plague.
Recently rebooted my computer and found that I can't use MS Windows Office w/o the registration number that came with it. Looked, but can't find the reg. sticker from the packet. I have never owned a Windows 7 Office but if I was to buy the 2010 version. Will it be updated so like when the new Windows office comes out will it update free or do I have to buy the newer version?|||Windows does not offer free upgrades. For awhile, Dell and other companies were offering free upgrades from Vista to Windows 7, but that was very short lived.
So, most likely, no. You'll need to spend another good chunk of money when the newest office comes out, Office 2012.
If you buy Office 2010 now, it should last you a good 5 years. I am personally still using Office 2003 without any problems (that was 8 years ago). I would buy office 2010 now (or wait a year for 2012), and not upgrade until Office 2016 or so (they seem to release one every 2 years).
No, you cannot install it on 2 computers. Businesses buy what is called Volume Licensing. Then they can install the disc on more than one computer. But you have to have a lot of computers to make that worth the money.
Hi there, there are two separate questions here so that it's best to separate them apart to avoid confusion.
1) Recently, I downloaded the software package "Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise" from the website Bittorrent. According to this website, the software package available for download is in 100% working status. After the download is complete, and when I try to install the software on my PC, I got an error message saying that "Setup cannot find the required setup controller file". So, what can I do to correct this error? Where can I find that "required setup controller file"?
2) According to Microsoft, the Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 is supposed to be available for download today (Apr. 29, 2008). When I take a look at the Microsoft Download Center, the "Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 Overview" is there on their website. Can you please tell me what is the difference between an overview version and a final version of a software package?|||1. Learn number 1 : Never trust torrent, only trust the original application from the original website. So I can't comment on the application from the torrent, because it can be a lot of reasons
2. Overview is just like briefing about the content of XP Service Pack 3 so it's not different of Service Pack|||1) I cannot answer your first question because it is illegal to download Microsoft Office 2007 from illegal torrent sites.
2) Microsoft overview is the one which still has some issues and the final has all the holes and issues patched up. Don't worry microsoft will automatically update your computer with service pack 3 if you have genuine windows and passed the WGA test. If not you have to wait for a while until it is released for public.|||Hi,
1) Your first question i am not going to answer because download Office Enterprise for free is illegal. Develpors have worked crazy to make it and you, behind your lasy computer download it for free!
2) Service pack are only all the previous security patches and some improvements packed into one downloadable pack. You might not be able to download it know but is normal. I only got Vista Service pack 1 about a few days later than it was released. Just wait a while. It will come|||q1........office 2007 should cost 拢300 and it is illegal to d-load it the way that you did. anyhow it should install if you use

If this only happens in one particular Word document, then in Word open the document and click on Tools | Unprotect Document.
If all new and existing Word documents are locked for editing, then it's probably because you have not activated your Word/Office software, or because you have an expired trial version of Office 2003. What happens if you start Word and click on Help | Activate Product? If you are already activated, a dialog box saying so will appear. If you are not activated, the Activation Wizard will start. If you have an expired trial version, a dialog box will prompt you to enter a valid product key or purchase a key online.

no...they are separate software packages, and Quickbooks is not a program that will integrate into MS Office Suite the way something like OneNote would|||Just Excel.

So I own a PC with Windows Office 2003 on it, and I began writing my midterm exam papers using Word 2003. Then I took my flash disk with me out of town and had to finish the exam using a friend's Mac. They were using Word 2011, and I didn't realize. I saved the finished exam on my flash disk, and now that I'm back home I can't open it! I have the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system, but that won't open it. The format of the file is still ".doc", and I don't understand what the problem is. Is it a Mac vs. PC thing, or a Word 2003 vs. Word 2011 thing? I can't seem to find any file format converters that go newer than 2010, so am I screwed? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
Desperate|||The default file format for Microsoft Word beginning with Word 2007 is (.docx). It makes no difference whether it's Mac or PC, just the version of Word. So Word 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011 all use the same file format.
The default file format for older versions of Word is (.doc).
If your copy of Word 2003 has the compatibility pack AND the required service pack update, it will open both file formats. You don't have to uninstall Word 2003, but you do have to make sure it has all the updates in addition to the compatibility pack.
You can NOT change the format by changing the file extension. You have to use Save As within Microsoft Word to save a document in either format.|||You need to reopen the document in Word 2010 (Word 2007 may also work) or newer and save as an older format, in your case Word 2003 format.
I recently started going to a new school and they give out free Windows Office 2010 Professional Plus and Windows 7 Ultimate. I have an old 32bit eMachines computer that I'm trying to put it on. I already installed the Office 2010 will no problem but I'm afraid to install the new operating system because I CAN'T lose any of my information, pictures, etc.
What should I do?|||Depends on the OS you are using, XP requires a clean install. Vista can be upgraded.
A clean install is the best way and there are lots of tutorials on the subject. Just save your files on a flash drive or CD/DVD and do a clean install. Make sure your machine can run Windows 7 first.
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/det鈥?/a>
http://www.google.com/search?q=windows+7鈥?/a>|||There are ways you can install another version of Windows in a PC if the primary operating system is an earlier version of Windows.
What you need to do is to make a different (dedicated) partition at least 30GB, boot the PC with the installation disk and when the installation partition is requested to give the newly created partition for it. The rest should go OK.
Make sure you read the instructions and steps carefully before hitting the next button.
Always be safe.
Backup your My Documents folder to a USB Stick/Pen or DVD along with other important files before doing any upgrades, because there is no term called 'too much safety'.|||Operating systems are always best if installed from scratch and that does wipe everything that was previously there.
I would think carefully before installing Windows 7 for other reasons though. You say your PC is an old 32 bit machine. Iassume it has XP. It may not be capable of running Windows 7 anyway.
Windows 7 isn't essential for Office 2010 as you know already.|||you have someone help you install is better than my instructions to you from doing|||Yes whenever you install a new Operating System it ERASES everything including all programs and most will require the Windows 7 Version of said programs .|||If you choose upgrade it will not. I used the trial version of Windows Microsoft Office 2010, but decided I didn't need it. As I've not paid for the upgrade I can't alter any docs or create new ones. Do I have to remove 2010 from my computer before or after I reinstall my Microsoft Works Suite 2002? - I don't want to lose all my docs. When I installed 2010, it overrode 2002 (I thought I would have both side by side instead of it automatically upgrading 2002) and kept my docs... I have a small business and can't afford to lose all my docs.|||You won't lose your document files by uninstalling Office 2010, but Works 2002 will not be able to read any files created by Office 2010.聽 Your best option would be to uninstall Office 2010 and then download and install the freeware Libre Office (formerly Open Office).聽 This will enable you to read and edit (and create new) MS Office file types, as well as its own.

I have a MacBook and am trying to figure out everything I need (software-wise) to run Windows on my Mac. I am a college student that am having some compatibility issues with some software for school. I have heard about something that lets you run Windows on a Mac in a separate window. (I think it might be Parallels...) . What software do I need to buy to run Windows XP & Windows Office on my MacBook? (I do not already have Windows XP and Windows Office software.)|||First of all, you're going to need a copy of whatever windows environment you want (xp, vista, etc..). If you want to run windows WHILE you run leopard, buy Parallels or Fusion. Otherwise, you can use Bootcamp to restart your computer in Windows.
-Hope this helps
-additional note,
Bootcamp comes free with Leopard, the operating system on any new mac computer...|||If you have an Intel based Mac and Leopard, use BootCamp. Go to Applications/Utilities and find the Boot Camp Assistant. It allows you to print out instructions, although it's really easy to use. You can also buy software like Parallels, which allows you run run a virtual Windows machine within the Mac OS.
I recently downloaded Parallels and want to be able to run Windows Office programs. I thought it would be a lot more simple but it asks me for an installation disk which I don't have, and don't want to pay $200 on top of the $80 i spent to get the program, any idea how to do this in simple normal people talk?|||I will answer this question in the general knowledge that:
1. you will get yourself a legit copy of windows 7 *i know i did*
2. you will do this with pride ;)
anyway, there isn't much of a choice if you're not getting in in its physical form, so you're left with getting it online. I'm not gonna suggest you any P2P sites here, since mods scour the answers once in a while, so just google it up, or PM me if you need to. But i'm sure google provides well. ;P|||You need to purchase a legitimate copy of Microsoft Windows 7.
My friend lent me a Windows Office 2007 CD but when I just put the CD in my CD drive, My antivrus says Spoolsv.exe is a virus. I can see that file in the list of files on the CD. I haven't installed the program yet. Is it safe to install it? Is it a virus?|||If you want to print your Office documents it is REQUIRED..
The spoolsv.exe file is described as the Spooler SubSystem App or Windows Print Spooler Service and is the main component of the printing interfaces. The spoolsv.exe file is initialized when the computer starts, and it runs in the background until the computer is turned off.
The process spoolsv.exe transfers the data in a buffer. If the printer needs the data, it will retrieve it from the buffer. While the spoolsv.exe file is storing the data in the buffer, the user can carry out other operations. The spoolsv.exe process is also responsible for queuing printing tasks. Through this function, the user does not need to wait for each printing task to be completed one after the other.
To install Office - It is recommended that you turn off (suspend) your Anti-Virus software when installing Office. Then when Office is installed run a virus scan..I am sure you will be OK.|||It CAN be a virus masquerading as a legitimate process. Is the Office 2007 CD the ORIGINAL CD or is it a COPY? If it is a COPY then it is very likely a virus. If it is the Original, it is unlikely to be a virus.|||install it with other cd source or clean it with any antivirus

So I have had no problems with the Windows Word 2007 up until today. It asked me to enter in my product key and I did, I entered the 25 digit key from the bottom of my laptop and it said that it was invalid. I have my homework files saved in there and my laptop only has Word 2007 so that is the only program I can use to do my assignments with. I went online to try and find a solution to this problem and I stumbled across a forum in microsoft.com and I read that I could uninstall the program and then reboot my laptop so that when I reinstall the program again, I can enter in the product key and it would be fine. Problem with that is that when I did do that, I completely loss the Microsoft Office 2007 program and can no longer find it. So what I want to know is that:
1.) How can I reinstall Microsoft Word 2007?
2.) How can I get my Product Key valid?
Here is some more information that might help you guys:
-I have a Lenovo Y450 laptop
-It's running on Windows 7
-I don't have any other Windows Office program installed onto this laptop and the product key is blue|||You had a free trial copy of Microsoft Office 2007 and it expired after 25 uses (of all Office programs combined) or 60 days, but your uninstallation of it was irrelevant. It wasn't going to work again (even with another download) without a valid Office product key (the one on the computer is only for Windows).
You should be able to download and install an Office 2010 trial now (2007 is kaput) and probably get another 60 days out of it. When IT expires, here are some of your options for paying less than full price for Microsoft Office 2010:
First, if you're a student, you may qualify for the Office Professional Academic edition of Office at a pretty good price ($79.95):
http://www.microsoft.com/student/
Second, if you鈥檙e interested in buying just Word, check out this URL, especially the second group of listings.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/produc鈥?/a>
Note that the higher of the two prices quoted is for a full version of that program and the lower, for upgrades from existing software. Read the list of upgrade-qualifying software carefully: MS Works is often one, and may have come on your machine.
Finally, if you're willing to spend a little to save a little, Microsoft Works is available in stores for about $40.00. You could buy a copy, install it, then buy Office at the upgrade level. I think you'd come out ahead. Note that the upgrade copy probably checks your machine for Works' presence, so don't get rid of it after you've installed Office. You never know when you're going to have to reinstall Office.
Also, if you have files that are locked up in the new Word 2010 file format (.docx), here鈥檚 a possibility for salvaging them. Microsoft offers a free Compatibility pack that allows earlier versions of Word (and Microsoft Works) to read and write Word 2010 files. If you have access to an earlier version, this can at least give you back your documents. Some new features of Word 2010 will be lost or converted to straight text in the conversion to the earlier version.
Good luck.|||You might be in a bad spot. The number on the bottom of your computer was probably the Windows serial number, and not the serial number for Microsoft Office (which includes Word).
When you uninstalled Microsoft Office, all office components that were installed were removed. Depending upon the version of Office you were running this may include Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access, and or other applications.
Your computer should have come with some CD's or DVD's. Was one a Microsoft Office CD or DVD? If so, use that media to reinstall Office.
In the event your computer came only with "System Restore" media then you can use those. YOu should first back up ALL your data to other media (flash drives, USB hard drives, or similar). When you use the System Restore media you MIGHT lose any applications you installed that were not on the computer when you bought it, AND your data. So always, always, always back up first.
If you have no media, you can download a TRIAL version of Office 2010 from Microsoft. This will provide you with use for 60 days during which time you will need to either purchase Office 2010 or use another application.
The free trial download is here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/
Alternately, if you can download OpenOffice which is a free set of tools similar to Microsoft Office:
www.openoffice.org
Lastly, if you will be working online all the time you can use Google Docs.|||The key on your laptop is likely to be your windows key and not for your office program.
Was the office program on your laptop when you got it? A lot of computers come with it on as a trial and then you have to pay to use it after the trial is up.
If you paid for it and got it in a cd box then the code should be on there.
If you do find its a trial then try downloading open office which is free and legal on http://www.openoffice.org/ this will allow you to open your assignments :)

Firstly, the eee runs openoffice on Linux. This has fair compatability with ms word 2000, but the eee struggles with the application. I also doubt if OpenOffice supports the newer office formats. You might find simple file transfer quite tedious.
One idea is to upload stuff to google docs, which will handle multiple formats.
Other suggestion is to put XP on the eee. There's lots of stuff on the ASUS site to support XP, so it should run fine.
The eee itself is so light compared to a general laptop, it really is easy to carry about.

Hi all,
I recently purchased a new mini laptop with no disc drive. It currently has the trail version of Windows Office 2007 which I HATE (with a fiery passion).. I have an older copy of Office 2003 on disc which I can still use (you can use on three computers) but with no disc drive the only way I see getting it on is buying one of those portable disc drives.

You can get a virtual version of the disk by using nero burning rom or nero express. Move it on a USB flash drive and install it in your PC (you need deamon tools ( http://download.softpedia.com/dl/417ee8e鈥?/a> ) or another program like it (that can mount .nrg image files))
You can also copy the content of the disk on a USB flash drive and install it from the flash drive.
I am in the process of teaching myself the componants of Windows Office Suite. I'm starting with Access 2003, because I can get free tutorials through the temp agency that I work for. My question is this; has anyone in this group used Access, and if so, did you find it difficult to learn? I'm a quick learner by nature, so I'm baffled as to why I'm not "getting it" that easily.|||I find Access pretty tricky too.. so I look at some of the tutorials on the official Microsoft Office web site.
Access 2003 Help and How-to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/FX100646921033.aspx|||It's tough to learn if you don't already know something about databases. You start with building tables. An example is an address book. Then you might use Access to find just those people who live in Texas. Add another table, say classmates, and you can do queries to see what is common to both tables. Access is very powerful and can hold tons of data. It's much easier to learn if you have some practical applications and examples to use.
