I am going to be buying a new computer. I am some what computer literate but not completly. I want a computer with a lot of memory and windows office and cd and dvd burner. Im curious to what i should look for (as in the lingo for that stuff) and what is a good brand of computer. Thanks!|||Processor type. Nowadays you would want something with a dual core processor.|||Go to your local computer store and they can help you build one that is custom to your specific needs.|||whatever you do DONT get a gateway...by far thee worst i have ever come across on.
mines is waaaay too slow, freezes, crashes etc.
its GT5032 payed almost 1,500 for it!!
just get a dell!!|||Decide exactly what 2 or 3 main functions you intend to use the computer for. YOu probably already know some since you specify Office software and lots of RAM. But the purpose here is to identify the types of software needed to do your main functions and then find a model that comes with that software. Because, in the end, software will be your biggest expense over the life of the computer. So if you intend to only do letters, spreadsheets, presentations, then you've already figured that out. But what about photos and videos and music? Lots of people are into that these days and the software can be pretty expensive. So decide your main 2 or 3 purposes, then buy the best model with that software. Good Luck|||If you feel confident, build your own. it is not complicated, and you could find a site like this for help. what ever you do DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY, CIRCUIT CITY, ETC. If you dont want to build one, DELL.
