and i want to replace it with windows office edition 2003 xp
do i have to wipe out all of the memory from my computer?|||Ok.

office 2003 is software and Windows Home is an operating system.

You can just install office 2003 outright without any issues.|||office edition? do you mean professional?
Wipe all the memory? do you mean wipe your hard drive?
Although you can have 2 OS's on one machine, due to the fact that itrhey are both xp i would say yes, you should replace home edition with professional edition.

Memory refers to RAM
Microsoft Office is a software suite not an operating system, BTW|||yes|||HAHAHAHAHA, windows office edition 2003 is windows office applications, its not an operating system. The newest operating system to date from windows is xp and its 64 bit edition. Vista comes out next spring though i believe|||no.
cuz you can't replace XP with windows OFFICE. office is a software suite, while XP is an operating system.

:)|||Microsoft Office isn't an operating system, its a program. To install Office, you will need Windows, either home or pro, first.

You're getting a few terms mixed up, its Microsoft Windows XP, and Microsoft Office 2003 or Office XP, depending on the version.|||no, just upgrade it|||"Windows Office Edition 2003 XP" is not a product. You are confusing three, completely seperate products as one

There is Windows XP Professional

Windows Server 2003

Microsoft Office 2003

Windows XP Professional is an OPERATING system designed with the "businessman" end user in mind.

Windows Server 2003 is a server operating system. While technically it can be used to surf the internet, play video games, and listen to mp3's, It was designed to manage a computer "server" which in turn manages other computers.

Office 2003 is a productivity package which includes things like "Word" (for writing documents), Excel (for spreadsheets), Powerpoint (for presentations), Frontpage (for website design) and other features.

If you don't recognize the error in your original question, it is probably best that you do not try to take on the task yourself.

Yes, Installing Windows XP Pro, for example, will probably kill all your existing stuff.

Install server2003, even more likely.|||windows office edition 2003 is windows office applications, its not an operating system. The newest operating is microsoft vista ...
and windows vista is verry good i just put the cd in and installed windows vista with out any problem at all i find windows vista to be verry good operating system working fine for me
and i have installed the full version
not the beta version|||You have Windows XP Home Editon, thats the operating system for you computer.

I'm guess you want to upgrade your version of MS Office to Office 2003, just get the office 2003 setup disk and install, theres no such thing as windows office edition 2003 xp.|||No just install pro right over it. On starting the installation, there is a choice of what you want to do.|||It is very possible but you will have to reverse the polarity on all ac outlets within a 250 meter radius of the computer, then run regedit and check to see if you have a kernel virus (if you see anything with "kernel" in it, remove it right away!). After these steps, check the weather in your area. If the humidity is over 5% you cannot accomplish this task. If it is under 5%, wait 3 days then run the intall. You will have no problems.

If you do not follow these steps you run the risk of deleting the entire internets. Make sure to make a backup copy of the internets by right clicking the internet icon on your desktop and choosing "Send To Floppy". That way if you do accidentally delete the internets you can reinstall them with your floppy disk.|||Number 1 - Windows Home Edition is the Operating System

Number 2 - Windows Office 2003 is Business Productivity software.
