Should install OK. Maybe you have a trial version (newer) installed. If so, then you need to remove it.
Go to Control Panel - Programs and Features. Click on and then uninstall all Microsoft Office applications that you find there, including that which has been installed by your disc 1.
Reboot your PC and start over with your install. It should now install OK. Takes a while though so be patient.
I had this problem a while back with a new computer and that is how I resolved it. I have subsequently bought and successfully installed the Microsoft Office 2007 Upgrade .|||Wow Office 2000, well out of date You can download Open Office 3 for windows, which is compatible with MS Office 2010 with all the same features and more besides
download it from here, at the same time download the tutorials and document templates
