Was trying to fix problems and deleted 2 files then couldn't access anything, reinstalled windows xp, and now I have nothing on desktop--no programs,no files.i.e. windows office not found, pictures, etc. Can these files be retrieved?|||i reformatted and lost 3,000 pics. a couple months ago.i used a free restoration tool i found online to get them back. it recovers everything..even corrupted files. ill try and find the link for you.
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fi鈥?/a> here it is. and it doesn't download anything to your computer.|||No; this is why it is so important to back up your files prior to any reinstallation or full restore.|||If you formatted the hard disk it may be possible but you would probably need someone with some technical expertise to do it for you. If you did not format, the files may still be there - do a search for them using the windows search utility.|||No. Your re-install will have written over the original files making them unrecoverable. You now need to start from scratch.|||Did you format your system when reinstalling Windows? If not, then do a search on your entire hard disk(s) for the documents that you are looking for. Chances are you should find them under C:\Documents and Settings\. If you did format, then I am afraid there isnt much that can be done.
