I got the best anti-virus software i could find and it still didn't help. I was wondering if there is a way to completely erase the hard drive, without deleting the OS or Windows Office
All help is appreciated|||no need , it just needs cleaned up by someone who knows what they are doing almost never a need to reformat a pc . I read al these answers and questions here and i shake my head in disbelief . i have 11 PC 3 laptops , a server in my home / office none of them has ever been reformatted since installing the OS , never a virus , they are used and on damn near 24 - 7 run fast and
like new a little common sense and up keep goes a long way|||No dude, you can't erase or rather re-format your hard-disk without wiping your Windows OS as well.
If you have not already done so, you may wanna try the 30-day free trial Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008. It's abit out-dated I know. But hey, I downloaded it and helped me to get rid of some unknown viruses and trojans. It's just a small file of 65MB, which you may like to download from the link below :-

and scan you computer...fix all the problems......I think you problem is not viruses but spy wares....
Hope you'll able to fix all problems.. best of luck|||Back up what you want by taking out your hard drive and poping it into another computer or external hard drive caseing. Once you have done that. wipe your hard drive clean. If you use Linux or OSx 10.5 for intel you will have a more useful computer and you will never have to worry about virus's again. The bottom line is that any thing to do with Microsoft is bad news. MS Windows is s**t|||That wouldn't be possible, considering the viruses are embedded in Windows.
What is it consider as the "best antivirus software"?
Although I use only free software, I find the best combination for viruses is Avira Free Edition, and Malwarebytes anti-malware.
I would urge you to try malwarebytes if you havn't already. I can't tell you how many computers I have fixed with this software. It's free too! Nothing to lose.
http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant鈥?/a>|||not posible. They are woven into each other. The virus is in the windows files too so that wouldn't help.|||If your AV has identified the virus then it may be possible to download a spike from Norton or symantec that specifically targets the virus and can remove it.
Maybe take out your drive, connect it as a slave to another system and scan&clean it from that system, although this may also trash the OS but you may get away with a repair instead of a reinstall afterwards.
But reformat & re-install is the easiest|||No, sorry it's all or nothing
it's really easy to reinstall Windows though as long as you have your CD|||You can do a system restore... That will definately correct a lot of your problems.
If not, I suggest kaspersky.com. Yes malwarebytes is FREE and is decent, but kaspersky is a powerful full version anti virus, and has a FREE trial. So, when people are having serious issues, don't get something that is free 24/7, 365. Go out, download the best, use the 30 day free trial to keep clean, then buy or uninstall it.
This method is better than a OS install, and can sometimes save the day. I use it only as a last resort since you won't be able to get another 30 day trial unless you're good with registry.
Either way, you are back to a clean system for 30 days. In that time download the free stuff, and don't mess up again.
