I'm hoping it wont be as I am looking to buy a Macbook but i need some windows office programs|||If your smart and know what your doing its hard to get a virus.
I don't really get any viruses now a days simply because I have been there and made those mistakes in the past.
"chem girl" is right not that I even like macs.|||why would u run windows on a mac!? that defeats the purpose of having a mac !!! arg!!!
and yes... it would|||yes, however if you designate a seperate hard drive for the windows partition than that is supposed to help keep your computer safe|||Yes, when you run Windows, you will be vulnerable to all the viruses, etc. that Windows is vulnerable to.
With OpenOffice, perhaps you don't need to run Windows? See http://www.openoffice.org/ (also check out "neofffice" too).|||Yes because the OS is windows. But you can install the windows office and use it in a Mac OS. My uncle have a macbook and he told me that his office is windows.|||If you need Offfice on your Mac get MS Office for Mac or iWork08 which is better.
If you run Windows on your Mac, Windows will be vulnerable and will still require antivirus software Mac won't although the fact that you will be running Office for Mac means you won't need to be running Windows.
FAQs about Macs
http://ptech.allthingsd.com/20071115/her鈥?/a>
Disregard the 3 thumbs down votes that I have, some people out there don't know anything about Macs, Office for Mac or viruses.|||no.....but it depends on the user...because mac doesn't support
windows programs....it requires an emulator to run the windows on mac (e.g WINE)....|||It is still able to get viruses since it's still the Windows platform. ANY TIME you run Windows ANYWHERE it is fair game.
Try getting programs that are Mac-friendly, and perhaps, look into anti-virus and anti-spyware programs.
Some are:
AVG Anti Virus - Free (www.avg.com)
AdAware SE Spy Ware Protection - Free (www.adaware.com)|||did you know that macs are more vulnerable than windows? the reason you think that windows is more vulnerable is because 98% of computers are running windows. this means people who create viruses look at those odds, and figure if they write a virus for windows, it will affect more people. it's a lie that macs cant have viruses; this is a twisted form of the idea that windows viruses can't run on macs, which is a fact. there are a lot less viruses specifically made for macs. besides, just get AVG antivirus on there when you install windows, and itll stop the virus when you open one.
