I recently started going to a new school and they give out free Windows Office 2010 Professional Plus and Windows 7 Ultimate. I have an old 32bit eMachines computer that I'm trying to put it on. I already installed the Office 2010 will no problem but I'm afraid to install the new operating system because I CAN'T lose any of my information, pictures, etc.

What should I do?|||Depends on the OS you are using, XP requires a clean install. Vista can be upgraded.
A clean install is the best way and there are lots of tutorials on the subject. Just save your files on a flash drive or CD/DVD and do a clean install. Make sure your machine can run Windows 7 first.

What you need to do is to make a different (dedicated) partition at least 30GB, boot the PC with the installation disk and when the installation partition is requested to give the newly created partition for it. The rest should go OK.

Make sure you read the instructions and steps carefully before hitting the next button.

Always be safe.

Backup your My Documents folder to a USB Stick/Pen or DVD along with other important files before doing any upgrades, because there is no term called 'too much safety'.|||Operating systems are always best if installed from scratch and that does wipe everything that was previously there.

I would think carefully before installing Windows 7 for other reasons though. You say your PC is an old 32 bit machine. Iassume it has XP. It may not be capable of running Windows 7 anyway.

Windows 7 isn't essential for Office 2010 as you know already.|||you have someone help you install is better than my instructions to you from doing|||Yes whenever you install a new Operating System it ERASES everything including all programs and most will require the Windows 7 Version of said programs .|||If you choose upgrade it will not. If you choose clean install, then yes it will.|||Do you want to tell us what is your current OS or we have to guess?
