I have Microsoft Office Professional 2007 installation pack. Can i install this pack onto my old computer which runs off Windows XP and has a much older Microsoft Word etc program on it? will it get corrupted or will it just update? i don't want to have to completely reboot my computer and lose all my files if something goes wrong?|||No Go and google the minimum system requirements for Microsoft Office 2007 and if your system meets the minimum specs you would be fine but remember if you save in 2007 format some people don't have that so always save your documents as word 2003 files.

Here's a link to the requirements :

Since word pad is not a part of the MS Office suite.|||Generally, you can choose if you want to upgrade your current Office, or if you want to do a separate install.

Upgrade will replace your current office with the new one.

Separate install will install the new office, while keeping your old office.
You will have two versions of Office, one old, one new.
Except for Outlook.
You can only have one version of Outlook.
Decide whether you want to keep your old Outlook, or upgrade it to the new Outlook.

Everything else will happily run side by side.

NOTE:
Do not run the two versions simultaneously.
(For instance: Don't have both "Old Word" and "New Word" open at the same time.)
