my hard drive crashed and when it was reset I now have Office 31 and I need windows 98 office for school. how can i down load this?|||Download Open Office. It will work the same as Microsoft Office but with out the cost. Open Office is completely free.
http://www.openoffice.org/
Then after you install the program, you need to set Open Office defaults to Microsoft.
1.) open Open Office Writer.
2.) click Tools, and then Options
3.) next click Load/Save, and then General
4.) Now, slightly to your right there is a dropdown box just below the words Document Type. Make sure that dropdown box is set to Text Document.
5.) To the right of that dropdown box there is another dropdown box labeled Always save as. Change that dropdown box to Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP.
6.) You can stop here, but I thought you would want to change the default "save as" for Impress and Calc to save as PowerPoint and Excel Documents.
7.) To change the default "save as" for Impress change the Document Type dropdown box to presentation. Then change the Always save as dropdown box to Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP.
8.) To change the default "save as" for Calc the Document Type dropdown box to Spreadsheet. Then change the Always save as dropdown box to Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP.|||Huh Windows 98 Office?
There is Windows 98
and there is Office?
You can only Download the Newest Version of Office From microsoft site.|||I need more information. Chances are you had Office XP, Office 2003, or Office 2007. Do you know if the Office installation that was removed was newer then the one you presently have?
At present Office 2007 is the only download available legally.|||Depending on your level of school you are at, you may be able to download this from your school's OEM account. Check with your IT department. Most colleges have an account, and most public schools have an archive account, you would have to check with them.
As for just finding it online, you might check the local Torrent Sights and see if anyone has a listing for it there.
Outside of that, I am not sure where else you could look online, but you may check with a local second hand computer shop, or check a local computer show in your area. These older programs always seem to show up in someone's bargain bin. Sometimes you can find software at second hand shops or thrift stores. You may also check ebay or craig's list to see if anyone is selling older copies.
Good luck.
