If you are looking for something free and just as useful, you could try the following web sites:

SSuite Office for free office software - http://www.ssuitesoft.com :)

No trials, no registering your personal information, no strings attached at all. Just free office software. A very small download too! :D

and some others that are online:

Google Docs for online work - http://docs.google.com
Windows Live for online work- http://www.live.com

.............................|||That sounds like a free trial copy of Microsoft Office that was good for 25 uses (of all Office programs combined) or 60 days. At the end of that time it stops letting you edit your files or create new ones. You have to purchase Microsoft Office 2010, or at least Word 2010, to do that.

Note: The 25-character product key on the computer case or laptop bottom is NOT the key for MS Office. It鈥檚 only for the Windows operating system.

Here are some of your options for legally paying less than full price for Microsoft Office 2010:

First, if you're a student, you may qualify for the Office 2010 Professional Academic edition at a pretty good price ($79.95):

http://www.microsoft.com/student/

Second, if you鈥檙e interested in buying just Word, check out this URL, especially the second group of listings.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/buy/of鈥?/a>

Also, if you have files that are locked up in the new Word 2010 file format (.docx), here鈥檚 a possibility for salvaging them. Microsoft offers a free Compatibility pack that allows earlier versions of Word (and Microsoft Works) to read and write Word 2010 files. If you have access to an earlier version, this can at least give you back your documents. Some new features of Word 2010 will be lost or converted to straight text in the conversion to the earlier version.

Good luck.|||Yes. You had been using a trial version of Microsoft Office programs. It was good for 60 days only. Trial period is over. That's why you were asked of Product Key.
You cannot have a product key until you go and buy a full paid version.

No. You cannot download ANOTHER trial version. Microsoft is not that dumb.

An alternative is to install OpenOffice.org. It is a free program. It works " more or less " like MS Office and it is compatible with MS Office.|||Unless you bought a copy of Office, there's no legal way to get a key without paying for it. If you're a student, you can get a copy of Office for pretty cheap.|||Most likely your dell laptop came with a trial version of Windows Office.
Obtain the product key buy purchasing one.|||I suspect that you had a free trial and now they want paying, download a free trial again from ms office or get free openoffice .net
