Try this:
1. Press CTRL/V followed by CTRL/T. A menu will pop up.
2. Select Customize at the bottom.
3. Click the Toolbars tab.
4. Select the “Menu Bar” item in the list box.
5. Click the Reset button.
6. Click OK for the verification dialog box.
7. Click Close.
Hopefully, that will do it.|||Ctrl V won't work. Alt V will, or clicking on the View menu. Ctrl V will paste contents of the clipboard - if there are contents-to your document. If not, nothing will happen.
Ctrl T sets a hanging indent.
Alt V, then T would access the Toolbars and Menubar area in which you need to be.

1. Click View in the Menubar, then Toolbars.
2. Select Customize, the last selection on the Toolbars menu.
3. Click on the Toolbars tabbed page.
4. In the Toolbars list, select the Menu Bar entry. Click the Reset command button on the right.
5. Click OK to confirm you want this reset for the Normal.dot template.
6. Click Close. The File menu will be there.
