The "XP" in the version of Office is only because it was released at the same time as Windows XP. It caused a lot of confusion (as people assumed they could not run on it on Windows 95/98 at that time) so MS quickly renamed it as Office 2003.

Office is not included with any version of Windows, so I understand why the repair shop did not re-install Office on your computer. Legally they can not do it unless you have supplied them with the Office disk at the time they were doing the repair work. But Office XP will work on Vista - I have it running on one of my Vista computers.|||yes you can install the xp office on vista it will work fine|||Microsoft Office does not come pre-installed on any computer. They do install the "trial" version on many, but that's all.

Any version of MS Office from Office 2000 on, will work on the Win7 platform.
