(Please no computer jargon answers,as i don't understand it - sorry)

I'm doing an invoice on my Windows Office Excel, how i populate text from a cell into the same cell on another tab?

(It populates numbers, just not text)

Thanks in advance.|||Hi. There is a very simple method I use for doing that, and it works on both text and numbers.

Example:
In cell A15 on your sheet 1 tab you have a name, which you'd like to appear in cell A15 on your sheet 2 tab.

1. Click on your sheet 2 tab
2. Click cell A15
3. Type an = sign in the cell
4. Click on sheet 1 tab
5. Click cell A15 (it is now highlighted)
6. Press Enter

Now whatever you do to cell A15 on sheet 1, it will change A15 on sheet 2. You can test it by changing the text of A15 on sheet 1, or making it a number. Whatever you place in A15 on sheet 1 will show up on sheet 2.

Now, if you had numerous cells you need to do this with, just copy the A15 cell on sheet 2 and paste it into the other cells you need also on sheet 2.

Hope this helped :)

P.S. I use Excel 2000 and there is a template for an invoice on it. You can check your version to see if one already exists, if that would help you out. In your Excel, click on File, go to New, mine shows up in the Spreadsheet Solutions tab, Invoice.

If you need any other help, please feel free to email me.|||Say the text is in cell A6 on sheet1 and you want it on sheet2, go to cell A6 on sheet 2, type the = sign, click on sheet 1 tab, double click on cell A6 and enter and the external formula showing the contents of sheet 1 is there.

If there is more than one cell you want, you can group both worksheets by clicking on the first sheet, holding the shift key down and click on sheet 2. They are now linked. Highlight the data on sheet 1, right button copy, then up to edit, fill across worksheets and all data on sheet1 that you have highlighted also appear on the next worksheet.

This is invaluable when setting up multiworksheets so you have common headings and formulae. Don't forget to ungroup the sheets afterwards though by right clicking on one of the sheets and clicking ungroup.

After an update, my computer deemed my product key for my old windows 2007 office invalid. After explaining to my friend, he came over and installed a new windows office 2007 to my computer and the only difference I saw was that his was an enterprise. I asked him about it and he said he got it from a guy he new that worked with Fedex and that it was like a business version that could be installed into computers multiple times (he didn't even put in a product key).

Can anyone explain how his version was able to do this (bypass product key and install on multiple computers?) I did some search on enterprise and I still find that it is limited to a certain amount of installations, so how come his isn't limited. Or am I not fully understanding the enterprise version|||It's not *hacked*, your friend has an OPEN or CORPORATE LICENCE.

This is for large organisations who just buys one product key and copy for the software but can install it on multiple machines without activating it. They just have to make sure they buy the correct amount of licences it has installed on computers. For example, they would by 100 licences and install it on 100 machines. They could also install it on 200 machines if they wanted to and the product won't expire. However, Open or Corporate Licences are generally AUDITED randomly by a company contracted by Microsoft. So they do check up on the licences ever so often.

The idea behind OPEN/CORPORATE licences is that IT Staff can do massive roll outs of Office on company computers withint having to go and activate every single copy! Ie: Installing it on 200 computers and having to activate it all 200 machines would be a nightmare!

The software DOES REQUIRE a product key, but their IT staff would have packaged the product key INTO the install file so to make installation quicker. Hence why it looks like he's bypassing the product key - cause it's already 'wrapped' into the installation.

Your friend is therefore essentially 'stealing' his company's copy of Office. There may be a chance that later down the track, if this copy keeps on 'spreading', Microsoft will detect that there are 1000 copies of this product and it's key being used from multiple locations when Fedex only has 100 licences and will blacklist the product key (through Windows and Geniune Updates). This is what could potentially happen.

Hope that helps answer your question.|||His copy was hacked so it wouldn't ask for a key, happens all of the time. Illegal though.

I got the best anti-virus software i could find and it still didn't help. I was wondering if there is a way to completely erase the hard drive, without deleting the OS or Windows Office

All help is appreciated|||no need , it just needs cleaned up by someone who knows what they are doing almost never a need to reformat a pc . I read al these answers and questions here and i shake my head in disbelief . i have 11 PC 3 laptops , a server in my home / office none of them has ever been reformatted since installing the OS , never a virus , they are used and on damn near 24 - 7 run fast and
like new a little common sense and up keep goes a long way|||No dude, you can't erase or rather re-format your hard-disk without wiping your Windows OS as well.

If you have not already done so, you may wanna try the 30-day free trial Trend Micro AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware 2008. It's abit out-dated I know. But hey, I downloaded it and helped me to get rid of some unknown viruses and trojans. It's just a small file of 65MB, which you may like to download from the link below :-

http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-AntiVirus-plus-AntiSpyware/3000-2239_4-10440657.html

and scan you computer...fix all the problems......I think you problem is not viruses but spy wares....

Hope you'll able to fix all problems.. best of luck|||Back up what you want by taking out your hard drive and poping it into another computer or external hard drive caseing. Once you have done that. wipe your hard drive clean. If you use Linux or OSx 10.5 for intel you will have a more useful computer and you will never have to worry about virus's again. The bottom line is that any thing to do with Microsoft is bad news. MS Windows is s**t|||That wouldn't be possible, considering the viruses are embedded in Windows.

What is it consider as the "best antivirus software"?
Although I use only free software, I find the best combination for viruses is Avira Free Edition, and Malwarebytes anti-malware.

I would urge you to try malwarebytes if you havn't already. I can't tell you how many computers I have fixed with this software. It's free too! Nothing to lose.

http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Ant鈥?/a>|||not posible. They are woven into each other. The virus is in the windows files too so that wouldn't help.|||If your AV has identified the virus then it may be possible to download a spike from Norton or symantec that specifically targets the virus and can remove it.

Maybe take out your drive, connect it as a slave to another system and scan&clean it from that system, although this may also trash the OS but you may get away with a repair instead of a reinstall afterwards.

But reformat & re-install is the easiest|||No, sorry it's all or nothing

it's really easy to reinstall Windows though as long as you have your CD|||You can do a system restore... That will definately correct a lot of your problems.

If not, I suggest kaspersky.com. Yes malwarebytes is FREE and is decent, but kaspersky is a powerful full version anti virus, and has a FREE trial. So, when people are having serious issues, don't get something that is free 24/7, 365. Go out, download the best, use the 30 day free trial to keep clean, then buy or uninstall it.

This method is better than a OS install, and can sometimes save the day. I use it only as a last resort since you won't be able to get another 30 day trial unless you're good with registry.

Either way, you are back to a clean system for 30 days. In that time download the free stuff, and don't mess up again.

  • Circuit city said that all the "free trials" on my new PC were going to slow it down by 33% and it would be best to erase everything and add only windows office. Of course there would be a $40 charge.|||Ok, so from what you have written, I take it you bought a "new" computer. For some reason you have returned it to where you bought it. If we are to assume you returned it for "service" because it appears "slow", or seems "slower" than when you bought it, then what you have written makes sense.

If this is not the case than what you have written makes no sense, maybe you should try again.

Ok, so if you are still with me then I have kinda guessed right.
Installing "free trials", and other assorted GARBAGE, on a computer will slow it down. To regain your original speed this stuff must be removed.
As to the $40 charge, well you added the crap, and someone must pay to remove it, and it's not covered under warranty.

    What happens here:
When I build and sell a computer your "first one" (repair due to user error) is free. Next time it's $60.

But..........you could have used your restore disk(s) to erase and re-program your computer at home for free.|||They are right... the trials will slow down your PC and are usually worthless. I certainly wouldn't pay for the service though. Download PC Decrapifier and give it a run. It'll do the same thing for you and it's free and easy to use.

    Download it here:

http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/apps|||I don't know what software you are using, but they might just be telling the truth. A lot of software has bits that load up when Windows loads and which stays running in some way even if you are not using it directly (Desktop widgets and Anti-virus, for example). These programs take up system resources and slow your PC down.

Of course, the answer might be that it's easier and cheaper for them to erase everything on your PC and to restore it to its factory default settings, than for them to find the actual problem. $40 isn't all that much for a service like that. Even at what those guys get paid they would likely not be able to find and fix a problem without racking up more than $40 in wages alone.|||The free trials are crap and you should remove them.

However their 40 charge is crap. Tell them your not paying crap, you are purchasing your PC from them so they should do it for free...if they can't then go somewhere else, they are overpriced in regards to products. In my opinion and from my experience some of their people couldn't program or troubleshoot a speak and spell toy let alone a PC.|||I agree with them. they will, and most of that stuff is useless anyway. I wouldn't spend $40 though. Download a utility called ccleaner, http://www.ccleaner.com It was formerly called crap cleaner and was origionally designed to remove this kind of stuff off of new computers.
Once you are done with that here is a great article listing free software you should download to replace the "free trials" you deleted. In most cases, the free alternatives are better than the crap your computer manufacturer crammed on to your hard drive. There are even a couple of free alternatives to MS Office on this list.

http://www.download.com/8301-2007_4-9835鈥?/a>|||Yes that is true but let's be honest here.

Circuit City did NOT make that PC. They sold it. They have a service department that probably knows a lot more about the equipment than you.

That extra crapola on your new computer will certainly slow it down as most of it is running in the background when you boot up, instantly ready for you to use. Ready to use and taking up CPU Cycles rather than you click on an icon and have it running 3 seconds later.

About the $40.00 charge. Can YOU do it without messing up your computer? Do you trust some FREE ???? program to do it for you rather than muck up your system with more junk?

Why don't you see if they can clean your new computer of the junk and then make you a RESTORE CD of the system at the time they clean everything off. That way, if something goes screwy in the future, you just RESTORE to the day they gave it back to you.

I know Best Buy has a service like that.

The main word is ' Service '. If you can't do it, you pay the ones that can. That's paying for a SERVICE.

Sarge|||You can remove a lot of the pre-installed trial programs yourself from the add and remove Icon in the control panel. Why pay some one else to do what you can do?

As far as Microsoft Office goes, if you don't have the program, simple download Open Office. (it's open source software) It is free and will do exactly the same things that MS Office does.

I use windows xp professional and windows office 2003 on my pc.|||You ultimately cannot. Anybody can upload inappropriate sexual material to any site, making it impossible to prevent such things.

Your best bet is to monitor your child's use of the internet. You don't always have to be sitting there with him or her, but you should ask them about what they are viewing, and even talk to them about the dangers of pornography and their effect on our thinking about the nature of men and women and sexuality.

Additionally, you can buy something like Net Nanny or other software that blocks popular, common sites. Make sure all search engines your children use are set to "Filter Contents." Moderate filtering is OK, and Strict filtering will usually cause a lot of complaining from the kids.

If you worry about them a lot and want t know what's going on, you can purchase and install Covenant Eyes, a program that resides on the computer at all times and sends a copy of all visited websites to a user-defined e-mail address (yours!). Then, you can review what your kids are up to on the internet. I had a roommate who used this to help himself, and after getting permission, I did everything I could to try to disable the program and make sure it didn't report sites: I couldn't. I'm pretty tech savvy, but this program is well ingrained into the system (you can always delete it if you want to, but need the password).

Covenant Eyes cost a certain amount per month/year.

Ultimately, it is up to you to monitor your children. Do this by proactively asking them about their internet habits, talking to them about the dangers, keeping all internet-capable computers in open areas, and using basic blocking software and features.

Go into Internet Settings, and you'll find some very basic content filtering that Internet Explorer can perform, but it's not all that great. Sites must identify themselves as inappropriate for children, and any that don't are invisible to most blocking software. Besides, there's always a way around it.

Also, be on the lookout for file sharing programs that can distribute pornography as well, such as Limewire, Kazaa, eMule, Gnutella, etc. Additionally, video content is accessible via iTunes, so go into iTunes and disable anything beyond R, or Pg-13, whatever you prefer.|||There is simple method which i was using for internet explorer some months ago, its very good particularly if u dont want to buy softwares for blocking these sites. In internet explorer click on TOOLS->internet options->content.In the content advisor tab click on "enable".Now in the general tab, click on "supervisor can type password...." in the user USER OPTIONS tab and click on "create password" in the supervisor password tab. One is to use parental control software - these packages typically rely on a continually updated list of offensive sites, and sometimes use image sensing to block offensive images. A second option is to use a whitelist feature to set those sites to which your children have access. 1 year of school or less:
If you have 1 year of schooling or less remaining, I recommend a laptop for a workplace over one for a student. In a workplace, u'll need a wider variety of ports such as paralled ports, serial etc so that u can connect whatever equipment to your laptop. U might also need a floppy drive.
Most laptops nowadays dont come with those anymore, so u'll need to get them separately. External floppy drives are available as from 30 dollars canadian.
Parallel ports and serial ports can be obtained using docking stations or thru USB converters available in most computer
    stores.

If you have more than 1 year of schooling:
I recommend a tablet pc. Although expensive, these are the most practical computers for a student as they allow you to take notes directly on ur laptop. No more need for paper. Profs post their notes online nowadays so u just have to open their notes and add to them during class b4 u print or u can always read on-screen. An alternative to tablet pcs (their configs are really bad compared to a normal laptop) is to buy a normal laptop and to get a USB tablet and stylus. With Vista, this combination immediately makes ur laptop into a tablet pc.

Windows based laptops are cheaper than macs and so far, their configs are also better. More software are available on windows than macs. Since most ppl use windows, u can be sure, IT support anywhere will have someone qualified to help u on windows.

Toshiba is a reliable brand. We had a Toshiba for 4-5 yrs now and we have never had any trouble with it. They are however heavy laptops.

I recently got a Dell. It's not too bad... but I only just got it. So can't say much about it. Cross fingers, it will be as good as toshiba.

Whatever you do, get a laptop with 2 GB ram at least. If u will be doing a lot of graphics stuff, get a graphics card with its own memory... not shared ones.

    That's about it.

Hope this post was a little help.

Can it withstand the change and is it worth the money?|||I would not recommend upgrading to Windows 7 with a 7 year old computer. Mainly due to a few factors:
    * It requires a 2GB RAM minimum to start up, 4GB+ for more functionality.

** Modem, ethernet card, etc incompatibility more likely

I am going to be a student in college this year and I just bought a laptop but it does not have any Windows Office. I looked up online for the newest one and saw it was window 2007 which cost $150 but windows 2003 cost $50. 5. Right-click the Windows.OLD folder.
    6. Windows Vista will determine the size of the folder after several seconds.
Determine whether the Windows.OLD folder is smaller than the free space that is available for Local Disk (C:) in step 2.

What is Microsoft Office Beta about? I thought Windows Office (Word, Excel etc.) was expensive but I just downloaded the latest version from Microsoft for free. Is itcompatiblee with the normal Windows Office? Just that my tutor will be marking my work in Windows normal Office so not sure if to buy the normal version?|||Microsoft Office 2010 Beta is a preview of the upcoming full release of Office 2010, which will be released later this year. Some of the features and functions are still in development, but they should provide you with all the resources you need to accomplish your work. Windows Outreach Team|||Windows 7 is an operating system: it is the successor of Windows Vista.

Microsoft Office is a really good set of programs. But Open office is for free and is for most purposes just as good. So download Open Office install it and if you afterward really think you have to have MS Office, well there is nothing to stop you.

Remember when you create documents in Open Office to be sure to save them on MS Office format. Otherwise you can get into problems if you send the documents over to others.|||Hi there,

Windows 7 is the best operating system Microsoft has "come up with" yet.

There are several versions of Windows 7. The version you want is Windows 7 Premium.
Win 7 Basic is a very "stripped down" version and does not have any of the good features of Premium.
Win 7 Starter edition is stripped down even more and (personally) I would prefer windows XP to it.

There also are 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 7. If you have a choice the 64 bit version is able to address more memory but some hardware does not have drivers for the 64 bit version.
The 32 bit version can use almost all of 4 gigabytes of ram and any application or hardware for Vista should work in Win 7 32 bit.

I have Win 7 Premium (32 bit) and am very happy with it. I have Windows XP on two other computers and Win 7 is faster and has better security.

Once you have Win 7 go ahead and download Microsoft Live Essentials to get an e-mail program and photo viewer. (they are not included in Win 7 but are a free download).
Also download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. It is a fast, free download from MS that includes antivirus and anti-spyware programs. They update daily and do not slow down your computer. I use MSE on my Win 7 computer and really like it.

    Second question: Microsoft Office

MS Office is great software. It is a little expensive but works well and shares the same "controls" between all the different applications. It has everything you need in an office suite.
    But:
There is a very good alternative to MS Office called "Open Office". It has all the same applications and is about 97% compatible with any of the Office applications. Open Office is a free, open source suite of applications that competes very well.

My recommendation is if your computer comes with MS Office use it. However before buying MS Office try Open Office first (it may be all that you need).

FYI: All my earlier applications for Windows XP and even windows 95 do work in Windows 7.

Hope this helps and is not confusing,
al|||If we are talking simply usability, then it is very user friendly, offering useful features such as a search bar built into your start menu (saves me lots of time) and being able to click and drag documents to compare side by side.

For compatibility, generally speaking it is compatible with almost everything. You can definitely use facebook, msn, and all other social networking programs with it. You will, however, run into some problems when it comes to driver compatibility and older programs. But if you don't expect to be doing anything too complicated then you won't ever run into these problems.

I use Microsoft Office and I am very pleased with it. In fact it is all that I've used my whole life (except for Wordpad back in the day when I didn't know any better). Other people opt for other options (OpenOffice), but this is usually a matter of preference.

On the technical side, ask the person who is getting Windows 7 for you if the machine that you are running it on will be able to run it well. Windows 7 is more resource demanding than XP, and you should have AT THE VERY LEAST 2GB of RAM, 4GB being the recommended amount. Anything less than 2GB and go with XP.|||It's easy to use and yes it compatible with older programs, the windows software is easy to use and you'll have fun using it. The design of windows 7 is aesthetically pleasing if you change the themes and customize it the way you want to. Good luck :)

"Create a different header or footer for part of a document
When you create a header or footer, Word automatically uses the same header or footer throughout the entire document. To create a different header or footer for part of a document, divide the document into sections, and then break the connection between the header or footer in the current section and the previous one.
    1. If you haven't done so already, insert a section break that creates a new page where you want the different header or footer.
    2. Click in the section for which you want to create a different header or footer.
    3. On the View menu, click Header and Footer.

    5. On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Same as Previous to break the connection between this section and the previous section.
    6. Change the existing header or footer, or create a new one for this section.

Never know who here is a agent from microsoft.|||Actually, downloading Windows XP is not illegal. Installing Windows XP without a valid License Key is illegal.

If you have a computer that originally came pre-installed with Windows XP than it has an OEM license. Most manufacturers nowadays place the license key somewhere on the outside of the case. If you have that original license key than all you need to do is get a copy of Windows XP Oem version (it must be an OEM CD, a retail CD version will not work with an OEM license key) from someone and use that original license key to reinstall Windows. That is perfectly legal and does not violate the EULA.

    3) Again, the chip is okay. Try to get your RAM up to 512, and put the 20 gig drive from #1 in there.
    4) Pull the drive. Take the rest out back and work out your aggressions on it...
    5) take the drive from #4 and swap it for the 10 gig.. no further upgrades needed.

I just got a new computer and it has Windows 7 operating system on it. I moved & installed all the files from my old computer to the new one. I have one major issue. I tried to print labels for my clients and the files are now NOT compatible. I was using windows Office Suite 2003. Is there a way to import or convert so I can print them out in Windows 7? I have no way to test this, so it is only a thought, but try saving multiple copies of the file and in the box below the file name, is something like file type.
Make a copy and save as every available file type, and then transfer them to the new word and see if any of them work.
If they do, just remember which type you need to save as for future reference.|||Install MS Office on your new computer... If you can't find your old office '03 disks or if it came preinstalled on your old computer or if you can't purchase a newer copy of Office (I would hold off buying it anyway until office 2010 arrives), there is an alternative.
OpenOffice is free and should be compatible. Not sure if it will be easy to print your labels, though...

I just bought Microsoft Office Student 2008 software for my Mac laptop and I plan to put Microsoft Office Student 2010 on my Windows 7 desktop. I have had very little experience with any word/excel etc. program and am completely lost. I decided to buy a book instead of just using the online help.

My question is since I am getting the same basic program except for two different operating systems, would either book tell me what I need to know to work the program on both computers? In other words if I get a Windows Office 2010 book, would it be close to what I will have on my Mac (I realize it wouldn't be exactly the same). I really need help and am just not sure what to get.

Thanks|||The interface is quite a bit different. All the major features (font and color for instance), are the same, but other than that, the Mac version still has a menu bar, and a Photoshop-like toolbox instead of the ribbon. Also, don't get too attached to the UI on the Mac version- Office 2011 for Mac comes out later this year (you get it for free if you bought Office 2008 after August 1st), and it uses the Ribbon interface, similar to the one in Office 2010. They won't be exactly the same, but they'll be more similar than they are now.|||I'm not sure, since the Office 2011 beta was very small. I do know that Office 2011 is making attempts to behave like a normal OS X app, so the interface won't be identical. Although all you really need is the name of the feature- OS X has that nice built-in search in the help menu.

I am planning to get the Office student version that comes with 3 licences.
2 of these would go on the two computers I will have at home. However sometimes when I visit my family I use my mother's computer for my coursework and would like to have Office there.

Can I install this on my mother's computer even though I do not own the computer, it is at a different address and she would use the computer more than me over time?

Without buying the package I can't tell if the 3 licences must be on 3 computers owned by the same person/ in the same house or as I use my mother's computer for study I can include that one too.

Thanks in advance for advice.|||The spirit of the license is that you are supposed to install it on one computer and then use the other 2 licenses to make it more convenient to install the software on other computers in your same household, in the case that you own more than one computer and need to move around to different computers in your own home.

You aren't really supposed to use the other 2 licenses to provide to say friends and relatives who live elsewhere. Saying this, I doubt you would get any trouble over it since you paid for the software and that's better than using a pirate copy but if it ever went legal (doubtful) you should know that the purpose of the 3 licenses is to provide convenience to the person who purchased the software.

    Hi!

Where can I get a free Microsoft Office download or a cheap one? I lost the product key code for our laptop we just purchased, and now we are locked out of the trial version... :( HELLLLLP PLEASE|||Microsoft Office isn't the only choice you have these days - and the alternatives are FREE and more compatible with older versions of Office formats than the new MS Office is. Go figure!*

You would probably do better with the independently developed product Open Office, which is both free and widely used. It's at http://openoffice.org - download it and break free from Microsoft's format lock-in.

There's also the new Lotus Notes - now owned and developed by IBM, based on Open Office but more geared toward big companies. IT'S ALSO FREE, so the question becomes: why pay Microsoft for a product that's not even compatible with their earlier versions when their competition does it all for free?

An extremely carefree choice - if you don't mind editing tied to the Internet - is Google Docs - free but not very useful off line. Google Docs is great for those who move between 'net-connected computers, but can be frustrating to those who commute or spend significant time with a computer separated from the Internet.

There's no substitute for having a stand-alone office suite on your computer, even if Google Docs is your main approach. That's why OOo is the way to go.

    Good luck!
    ---
    * My observation is that Microsoft plans obsolescence - purposely not supporting old Office formats and/or adding "new improved" formating to encourage [force] purchase of their latest and greatest suite. They behave the same with new versions of their Windows OS - XP being the latest target for encouraged [forced] upgrade.|||You NEVER HAD a product key for it! It was a trial version. For Office 2007 this is how you check it:

To view the Microsoft Software License Terms for your product after it is installed, do one of the following in these 2007 Microsoft Office system programs:

    Access, Excel, PowerPoint, or Word
Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Program Name Options, where Program Name is the name of the program you are in, for example, Word Options.
Click Resources, and then click About.

I'm not sure if that link will actually work or not, but, just in case it doesn't, all you have to do is get the the laptops on dell.com under "Home & Home Office" and check the cheapest group (Dell Inspiron Notebooks). One of those would probably be fine for what you want to do. Just make sure you have enough Memory (at least 2GB, I'd say) and hard drive space (anything 250GB and up is good).|||If it is not being used for gaming, you will need a laptop with a sizable hard drive, at least 80GB. You will need a good chunk of memory/RAM, at least 512 [2GB if being used for Vista], and most of all, good battery life. Most other features would be irrelevant if its being used at home.

If you can pick up a laptop that comes without an OS or comes with Linux, that'll save you heaps of money. If you do that, get and install Ubuntu Linux (ubuntu.com), and learn how to use it. Its fairly easy to use, but may take some time, but getting your laptop ~$250 cheaper is far worth it, and Ubuntu supports loads of applications to do with home use :)

Regarding Vista: My advice is, avoid it like the plague.

So I have had no problems with the Windows Word 2007 up until today. It asked me to enter in my product key and I did, I entered the 25 digit key from the bottom of my laptop and it said that it was invalid. I have my homework files saved in there and my laptop only has Word 2007 so that is the only program I can use to do my assignments with. I went online to try and find a solution to this problem and I stumbled across a forum in microsoft.com and I read that I could uninstall the program and then reboot my laptop so that when I reinstall the program again, I can enter in the product key and it would be fine. Problem with that is that when I did do that, I completely loss the Microsoft Office 2007 program and can no longer find it. So what I want to know is that:

1.) How can I reinstall Microsoft Word 2007?
2.) How can I get my Product Key valid?

Here is some more information that might help you guys:
    -I have a Lenovo Y450 laptop
    -It's running on Windows 7
-I don't have any other Windows Office program installed onto this laptop and the product key is blue|||You had a free trial copy of Microsoft Office 2007 and it expired after 25 uses (of all Office programs combined) or 60 days, but your uninstallation of it was irrelevant. It wasn't going to work again (even with another download) without a valid Office product key (the one on the computer is only for Windows).

You should be able to download and install an Office 2010 trial now (2007 is kaput) and probably get another 60 days out of it. When IT expires, here are some of your options for paying less than full price for Microsoft Office 2010:

First, if you're a student, you may qualify for the Office Professional Academic edition of Office at a pretty good price ($79.95):

    http://www.microsoft.com/student/

Second, if you鈥檙e interested in buying just Word, check out this URL, especially the second group of listings.

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/produc鈥?/a>

Note that the higher of the two prices quoted is for a full version of that program and the lower, for upgrades from existing software. Read the list of upgrade-qualifying software carefully: MS Works is often one, and may have come on your machine.

Finally, if you're willing to spend a little to save a little, Microsoft Works is available in stores for about $40.00. You could buy a copy, install it, then buy Office at the upgrade level. I think you'd come out ahead. Note that the upgrade copy probably checks your machine for Works' presence, so don't get rid of it after you've installed Office. You never know when you're going to have to reinstall Office.

Also, if you have files that are locked up in the new Word 2010 file format (.docx), here鈥檚 a possibility for salvaging them. Microsoft offers a free Compatibility pack that allows earlier versions of Word (and Microsoft Works) to read and write Word 2010 files. If you have access to an earlier version, this can at least give you back your documents. Some new features of Word 2010 will be lost or converted to straight text in the conversion to the earlier version.

Good luck.|||You might be in a bad spot. The number on the bottom of your computer was probably the Windows serial number, and not the serial number for Microsoft Office (which includes Word).

When you uninstalled Microsoft Office, all office components that were installed were removed. Depending upon the version of Office you were running this may include Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access, and or other applications.

Your computer should have come with some CD's or DVD's. Was one a Microsoft Office CD or DVD? If so, use that media to reinstall Office.

In the event your computer came only with "System Restore" media then you can use those. YOu should first back up ALL your data to other media (flash drives, USB hard drives, or similar). When you use the System Restore media you MIGHT lose any applications you installed that were not on the computer when you bought it, AND your data. So always, always, always back up first.

If you have no media, you can download a TRIAL version of Office 2010 from Microsoft. This will provide you with use for 60 days during which time you will need to either purchase Office 2010 or use another application.

The free trial download is here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/

Alternately, if you can download OpenOffice which is a free set of tools similar to Microsoft Office:
    www.openoffice.org

Lastly, if you will be working online all the time you can use Google Docs.|||The key on your laptop is likely to be your windows key and not for your office program.
Was the office program on your laptop when you got it? A lot of computers come with it on as a trial and then you have to pay to use it after the trial is up.
If you paid for it and got it in a cd box then the code should be on there.
If you do find its a trial then try downloading open office which is free and legal on http://www.openoffice.org/ this will allow you to open your assignments :)

Hi there, I have just recently bought windows office 2007 students edition. I read that it is licenced for 3 computers but I need to know if it is installed on 3 and one of those breaks is it okay to install it on another computer

If you're referring to the 'restore disc", then yes, you will delete everything if you use it, and you may not get Office back anyway (may just restore the OS). Hi all,
I recently purchased a new mini laptop with no disc drive. It currently has the trail version of Windows Office 2007 which I HATE (with a fiery passion).. I have an older copy of Office 2003 on disc which I can still use (you can use on three computers) but with no disc drive the only way I see getting it on is buying one of those portable disc drives.

Is this the only way? Or is it possible for me to download Office 2003 off the website because I have all the auth codes etc with the copy I bought with my last laptop.

Thanks in advance ^.^|||Copy your disc to a pendrive (USB drive) from some other computer,it may be of your friend's. then install Windows office from that usb drive..|||You should be able to email them on that particular question but also if your old computer still happens to work you could insert the disc in it and copy the files to your HDD and using some USB adapter with an sd card of some sort (or an external HDD if you have one) be able to transfer the files that way and install it. It's not protected cause it's a program. It says it is but it will copy anyways.|||all you need is usb drive 1GB at least--and a computer with cdrom

then use your usb in the laptop
Good Luck|||I know that i downloaded a version of office 2003 from softpedia.com and it was the full version and I had a serial nuber so try looking there.

You can get a virtual version of the disk by using nero burning rom or nero express. Move it on a USB flash drive and install it in your PC (you need deamon tools ( http://download.softpedia.com/dl/417ee8e鈥?/a> ) or another program like it (that can mount .nrg image files))

You can also copy the content of the disk on a USB flash drive and install it from the flash drive.

Why windows Office 2000 and 2003 files not working properly with Vista? Why the new windows office 2007 is not compatible with MS 95, 98SE and MS ME and 2000? Anyone knows whether will these be resolved or its permanently like this?|||This is the problem people have being asking about once I installed office 2007 on the PCs in the office... but don't you worry, even office 2007 is backward compatible. Just open your document normally if you have saved them with lower version of microsoft office then click on the office button on your 2007 and see the 'Save As..' option, select 'Word97- 2003' option and you can rename or do whatever you like with the.... Save your document and move it any where.. It should open.

However, you should note that for some features that are not available on your lower versions, the 2007 will convert such to some format which will be recognized by the version you have saved has.

Beyond money, Microsoft have developed the new 2007 on another platform with a view for the challenges of that are coming in the computer industry. I personally have found that worms and other security loopholes that are available with the lower versions of office are well taken care of...

So take the right actions and you are can enjoy your documents...

good luck to you|||ITS COMPATIBLE YOU JUST GOTA HIT IT LIKE A NINTENDO CARTRIDGE AND GET VISTAL|||This is how bill gates keeps his money rolling in, cant you just be happy with xp why did you think vista would be any better?

Ha ha from bill.|||Making an new product compatible with older products does not work for any software manufacturer, whether it's Microsoft or Sun or Linux or Joe Blow. There are no plans to make Office 2007 compatible with earlier versions of Windows, in fact, that isn't possible. As to whether upgrades to Office 2000 and 2003 will make them compatible with Vista, only time will tell. It is much too early in the release of Vista to try to make these changes. If you are one of the ones who rushed to buy a new operating system and then spend the rest of your life complaining about it, too bad.

Windows 95, 98SE and ME are no longer supported by Microsoft. Win95 is going on 12-13 years old. Win98 actually came out in 1997 and is now 10 years old. WinME is a piece of junk - why anything is compatible with it is a mystery. Windows XP is now a stable and user-friendly OS. Why aren't you complaining about all the other equipment manufacturers? They need to make driver changes to go along with Vista and they haven't rushed to do so. They are just as much at fault. They knew it was coming, they were given specs and most of them decided to ride it out.

Many of these things occurred with Windows XP, though not to such a great extent. XP did require new drivers for almost all peripheral equipment, but then ANY new operating system does.|||why should it support out of date software. i dont understand not supporting office 2003 but any one later than that is just out dated software that can have a lot of security holes in it. as for office 2007 not being supported on any thing other than xp and vista. that seem right. why should it be supported on a plat from than is most likely gone and should be gone. the older os have major security problems. lets face it the days of 98 and 200 are now long gone. lets face it its either xp or vista and thats how its going to be till the new Windows come out.|||Any time you save a document in Word 2007, you have an option to save it in a form compatible with Word 97-Word 2003. I am running Office 2007 on XP Pro - the compatibility problem with Office 2007 is nothing to do with Vista. Microsoft should really issue a statement advising all users of Office 2007 to save their documents in the compatible form to allow the document to be retrieved on a computer running an older version of Office. I cannot say if the same problem occurs with Excel because I don't currently use Excel|||This incompatibility is because the new Vista OS operates in a completely different manner from the earlier Windows OS's.

MOST older applications will NOT work with it.

They have NO intention of attempting to correct this problem since they do NOT see it AS a problem. They see it as an "overall" improvement.

It ALSO "forces" you to buy other new software (and, in many cases, hardware) if you upgrade to the Vista OS!

Personally, I recommend going to "Open Office" that is FREE, and will read and write Windows Office files! (For some things I still use the "very old" DOS systems)|||That's because they have abandoned everything lower than Windows XP

Remove all components of any OLD office system, or any partial parts of the new 2007 system that may have installed. If there are multiple sections delete each individually and Re-start your computer in between each. **It is very important to Re-start your computer after removing ANY programs, if you don't, it may leave a "trace" of the program that is much harder to get rid of and can cause problems with future programs beind downloaded.

    Hope this helps!!

**Also, after reading someone else's post, I thought I'd add this...Its not legit, and if you don't have a user licence you will get a message asking for it everytime. BUT it can last for more than 30 days if you choose the option that says "Register Later". You can keep clicking that for a LONG time and continue to use the program.|||Office is protected against copyright and may have been the error or your computer may be outdated and may not have the software to recognize the Office software.|||Even if the install worked, what you are doing is not legit so Microsoft won't validate the install, so it won't run for more than 30 days.

Sounds like your friends CD is damaged or your drive is damaged.

Instead of stealing software from Microsoft that won't work, try Open Office. It works and is free.|||Simple, either your Device(cd or dvd) is not readable or your cd/dvd drive is not supporting the media(cd/dvd). Have you tried running through the steps again, and then closing it and re-opening the software? If this doesn't solve the problem I'd suggest a full uninstall (from control panel -> add/remove software) and then install it again.|||hi,
That's because you deleted your installation files. You need to insert your office cd-rom and when it asks to install let the office install missing files then you won't have any problem. Another way is to uninstall the whole office program and then re-install it again without deleting the installation files at the end of the installation. i hope it is gonna fix the problem.|||Yes, like MSG says the installation files have been deleted, perhaps you've done that doing a "cleanup"?

Nothing to worry about, just insert your Office CD and let it install whatever's missing. And don't delete the files in future! Not the end of the world - just irritating.

Your product key should either be on the box it came in, if you bought it at the store or could be on the sleeve that the disc was in. Now if this program came pre-loaded on the computer when you bought it, you will need to look through your computer's documentation that came with it. Chances are the product key will be on a card. If you happened to purchase the product on line, Microsoft should have sent the product key to you by email. Can someone please help me, I dont want to fork out this much money if I dont need to.
Thanks all|||Yes. More vendors are installing trial versions of Microsoft Office on their new computers - theoretically, it lowers the price somewhat, since you're not paying for a new version of Office when you buy the computer - but once that trial period ends or you want to use some function that the trial version disables, you'll have to buy a whole new Office box in order to keep editing the files you created. It's just another example of the computer owning you, rather than you owning the computer. I'd suggest getting OpenOffice.org, which is a FOSS office suite with similar functionality to Microsoft Office, but some of your formatting, especially if you used proprietary MS stuff, may get screwy.|||*sigh*

    Yeah. go pirate that ****.

Do a search on piratebay or some other file sharing service (limewire/kazaa) for "MS office key generator".

Be careful what you download. You take the risk of installing a virus, so make sure to back up your files and set a restore point.

    Piratebay is a good bet.

You also might want to try 4chan.org, and ask around on the "random" (/b/) board for a link to a "rapidshit" file.

Legally you purchased one license. So you can install it on one machine only. Any one you like.|||Good question since I spent hours trying to get this info and even Microsoft's website was incorrect. When I asked them for clarification and told them what their web page said they told me it was wrong and they would correct it. Quite frankly license agreements for this product depend on what version of Office you have. Best way to know for sure is to check the license agreement in your current copy.

Click View the Microsoft Software License Terms.
For other versions it should be under Help -> About if I remember right

Hope that helps|||If you mean like windows word, excel, power point etc? then yes you can install them onto 3 different computers!

.............................|||That sounds like a free trial copy of Microsoft Office that was good for 25 uses (of all Office programs combined) or 60 days. At the end of that time it stops letting you edit your files or create new ones. You have to purchase Microsoft Office 2010, or at least Word 2010, to do that.

Note: The 25-character product key on the computer case or laptop bottom is NOT the key for MS Office. It鈥檚 only for the Windows operating system.

Here are some of your options for legally paying less than full price for Microsoft Office 2010:

First, if you're a student, you may qualify for the Office 2010 Professional Academic edition at a pretty good price ($79.95):

    http://www.microsoft.com/student/

Second, if you鈥檙e interested in buying just Word, check out this URL, especially the second group of listings.

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/buy/of鈥?/a>

Also, if you have files that are locked up in the new Word 2010 file format (.docx), here鈥檚 a possibility for salvaging them. Microsoft offers a free Compatibility pack that allows earlier versions of Word (and Microsoft Works) to read and write Word 2010 files. If you have access to an earlier version, this can at least give you back your documents. Some new features of Word 2010 will be lost or converted to straight text in the conversion to the earlier version.

Good luck.|||Yes. You had been using a trial version of Microsoft Office programs. It was good for 60 days only. Trial period is over. That's why you were asked of Product Key.
You cannot have a product key until you go and buy a full paid version.

No. You cannot download ANOTHER trial version. Microsoft is not that dumb.

An alternative is to install OpenOffice.org. It is a free program. i have the software for windows office 2007. i'm also build my own computer. i dont want to pay for windows 7. so my idea is that i would download Linux (since its free), and install windows office for school work. so is this idea possible?|||No windows office is only made for WINDOWS|||Linux can not run Windows software. It only works on Windows.

However there are programs that will allow you to run Windows software on a Linux PC. It uses an emulator, which means it runs a "fake" version of Windows on the Linux computer. This allows you to run most Windows software on a Linux computer. Most versions of Linux come with a pre-installed version of a Windows emulator.

However, it means that every command for the Windows program has to be translated into a Linux command for it to run. Doing this will slow the Windows program. You may have performance issues with the speed of the program.

An alternative is to download Open Office. It is a clone of the Windows Office program originally designed for Linux, but now also available in PC and MAC versions. It is free, can create, read, and edit all the standard formats used by Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access). One file created by Open Office and saved in one of the MS Office formats is identical to a file created with the real MS Office program.

htt;://openoffice.org|||I love it when people say NO it can't work, then go on to tell you how to do it!

Anyways, Yes you CAN run it, but it's not always stable and sometimes has issues with printers. It's REALLY not recommended. Open / LibreOffice are better anyways and 100% with MS Office.

BTW: Who makes "Windows" Office.....Not Microsoft!|||Microsoft Office's "light" version runs in LINUX because it is a web application, but you can't run the full version in LINUX. The "light" version is completely free and offers free cloud storage and other cloud services. You can get it here:

LUg.|||no sorry.|||No you can't, but there are a few solutions. Some programs on Linux allow you to run windows applications and thus you could use Windows on Linux. However, Im not 100 percent sure this will work. However, I know for a fact that you can use open office which is almost exactly the same. Go to http://www.openoffice.org/ and download it. It is about 98% the same as Office word and excel, but its free. Plus you can even same documents as word and excel documents on there.

In terms of programming, Linux is certainly the best. If you are interested in writing code then its great, but even better is that Linux is all open source. Under their distribution requirements, all linux os have to include the source code with the os. Thus, if you can edit the code, you can literally adjust linux to any way you want it. It is the most custom editable os there is. Also, it can be good for slow or old computers, and especially those without much ram.|||Some Windows programs work on Linux with the help of Wine.

As for as MS Office goes Libre/ Open office are just as good anyway.

i'm having my oral presentation and i'm not sure if a 2003 windows office format run in a 2007 version. :)|||Yes. The file you saved in 2003 will have a .ppt (for example) and 2007 will open it. When you close it, it would give you an option to save it as 2007 format (.pptx), which you can choose or ignore and resave as .ppt. Earlier there was no backward compatibility (pptx opening in 2003) but now that works too.|||Microsoft Office 2003 has some patches for converting 2007 files. When you open a file on your computer, it will start to say "Converting..." and then open up in a minute.

If you modify the file in any way and save it, it will run the converting tool again. You can change it to your format by going to File/Save As and change it to Microsoft (type) Document. or 2000 (type) document.|||Yes. It would run in compatibility mode. You may save it as it is, or you may save it as .docx, .pptx and so on. But it would not happen otherwise. If you want to view Office 2007 documents on a computer with only Office 2003 installed, download this Office compatibility pack from Microsoft:

    http://www.brothersoft.com/microsoft-off鈥?/a>

Be advised that you could only view documents saved in Office 2007 format if you installed the compatibility pack. You will need Office 2007 installed in your system if you are to make modifications in these document formats.|||Yes.
Going from Windows 2003 to 2007 is not too much trouble; however, the other way around from 2007 to 2003, you will lose some of the features incorporated in the new version.

If you are using Windows 2007 you can use Save As and do it in 2003 or 2007. The x at the end of the end of the extension would tell you the version you are saving into. docx= Word 2007, doc=Word 2003.

Be aware that when you open your presentation if it's saved in 2007 and you are using 2007, it may tell you that some features will be lost and if you want to continue. The answer is up to you and depends on how much time you have. I had done this one for one of my classmates and it was in the spare of the moment. It works. Good luck.

If you are using Windows 2003 and you need to open a document done in 2007, use a converter. Here is the link:

The 2007 xml format is usually a problem for the 2003 Windows Office, but you can download a free compatibility pack for that from Microsoft.|||Yes, it will.

But, if you modify the file in any way, you have to use Save As... to save it in the older 2003 file format or you won't be able to open it with MSO 2003 ever again.|||Open it up in 2007 and it will ask you if you want to go to windows.com to download a format reader to read 2003 files.|||Yes it should but if you had a offfice 2007 format file and wanted to open it in office 2003 you couldnt|||yerr it will|||Yes, it will. Vista is a very good operating system for home users who aren't very good with computers since it has a lot of new features with them in mind.. However, it's still in its infancy and there are a great many bugs and issues. I have it installed, and am still finding some compatibility issues, but am perservering with it because it looks so pretty!

It currently has no place in the Business environment because it was designed with Windows server 2008 in mind, and until that O/S is released and installed in your network, I would seriously avoid it at all costs as it REALLY messes up your systems..

Office 2007 on the other hand has a number of new features with the business users in mind and th benifits can really be seen when using it in a shared office environment. My husband put it on my machine to work under my Virtual Linux Desktop. And I believe, as she said that it is free. I have worked with it some and it IS excellent, and deals with all the Microsoft Office documents.

Microsoft Office 2003 may be downloadable, but it's NEVER free. It came as a demo on my new desktop computer but they want $149 for it, and I don't use it. I have other programs I prefer.

I'm going to install MS Works 99 on my XP Media desktop. I think it will probably work just fine. I have a copy that came on another machine and hopefully was NOT just a demo copy.

With the new Windows XP Media, the Microsoft Office installed is ONLY a Demo.. and you have to pay to use it after 6 weeks. They used to provide a simple version of Micorsoft Word or Works FREE on computers so you could edit .DOC files, but these days they try to FORCE you to purchase Microsoft Office current version for over $100... rather than give you a copy of Word or Works free with the computer. After the 6 weeks was up, it ONLY allows me to READ files. I can NOT edit and resave any doc files which I can on all my other computers.

So give Open Office a try. It's easy to work with and will edit all the Microsoft Office files.

Once your data is backed up, shut down your computer.

Hold the F8 key down while you restart the computer. At the prompt, choose to reboot in safe mode.

Once your desktop appears, click the "Start" menu, and select "Run." This will open a command prompt. Type "regedit" in the command prompt window to open the registry editor.

Just in case something goes wrong, back up the registry. In the registry editor's menu, Click "File" and then "Export." Select "All" under "Export Range." Save the file to a folder you can easily find.

By using a registry cleaner http://make-a-computer-run-better.com the errors can be eradicated and increases the speed of your computer in the process. Registry cleaners work by scanning each file and then checking to see if it's corrupt or causing problems. If they find that it is broken, the registry cleaner will replace or fix the file for you to make your computer become free of errors. In addition, the errors will not happen if you regularly check and care for your computer system.

Edit: If all you need are the basics, then you do NOT need Microsoft Office. OpenOffice is a free download, why don't you give it a shot? Otherwise you'll probably have to pay for a new copy of M.S. Office.|||You'd have to buy it from any local computer store.|||Not to worry: I had approximately the same problem.

Simply download and install OpenOffice, which is free, which allows you to open and edit MS Office files, and which allows you to save files in either MS Office formats or in the MUCH MORE EFFICIENT OpenOffice formats.

The download is available from http://download.openoffice.org/

Version 2.3.0 is the current, stable release. Just click anywhere in the green rectangular area beneath the words "Download Central" very near the top of the page.

OpenOffice is generally easier to use and more feature-rich than the Microsoft product it replaces; however, there are a few things that MS Excel can do that OpenOffice Calc doesn't -- and vice-versa.

Personally, the limitations of Calc are minor inconveniences requiring an occasional extra few keystrokes, but Calc has allowed me to do things that are simply impossible to accomplish using Excel.

Open Office is a free Offfice Suite which has proven to be an alternatvie to Microsoft Office except for one thing that I mentioned, it's FREE. There are many other sites dedicated to Open Office and even those that offer Open Office Tutorials.
OpenOffice.org is a collection of different applications that work together closely to provide the features expected from a modern office suite. Many of the components are designed to mirror those available in Microsoft Office. The components available include:
Writer 鈥?a word processor similar in look and feel to Microsoft Word and offering a comparable range of functions and tools. It also includes the ability to export Portable Document Format (PDF) files with no additional software, and can also function as a WYSIWYG editor for creating and editing web pages. One important difference between Writer and Microsoft Word is that in Writer, many functions and number formats from Calc (below) are available in Writer's tables. Another difference is that in Writer, automatic save is off by default.
Calc 鈥?a spreadsheet similar to Microsoft Excel with a roughly equivalent range of features. Calc provides a number of features not present in Excel, including a system which automatically defines series for graphing, based on the layout of the user's data. • I bought my laptop with windows office installed on it already. Problem is when i wanna use a program, like word, it asks me for a product activation key (25 character). What can i do about this, where can i find the activation key if i dont have any microsoft office "cd's"|||The product key on the computer is only for the Windows operating system. It won't work for Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, ...). Unless you paid extra for Microsoft Office, you have a free trial copy that expires after 25 uses (of all Office programs combined) or 60 days.

Until then, you don鈥檛 need a product key. You can use the trial copy by just clicking the Continue button in the registration window without entering anything in the product key boxes.

But be warned: When the trial period expires -- with little or no warning -- you'll be able to read and print your documents, but not much more. When that happens, you'll have to buy a license (product key) for Microsoft Office to continue using it.

Here are some of your options for legally paying less than full price for Microsoft Office 2010:

Good luck.|||I think you have to go and buy the Word CD, because when I got a new laptop, I had to enter the code too.. so I took it from the CD i bought earlier. Go, to the top left-hand corner with your mouse, to cover that little round multi coloured icon there, left click this; this will throw up a drop down which will have listed amongst others the option to “Send” highlight and left click this, this will throw up the option to E-mail or Fax, click e-mail. 1) Print it out.

    4) Affix a postage stamp.
    5) Put it into a mailbox.|||Save the file. Open your email program. Write the email. Attach a file. Find the Word file you saved. Click on it and click OK or Open or whatever button your email program gives you. Send the email.|||Many computer users can not open and read Word 2007 native files.

A good number of government offices and book publishers world wide also do not accept word 2007 native files.

To be certain the receivers can read the files you are emailing as attachments you need to use the "save as" command and make certain you will be e-mailing Word 2003 compatible file, or text file.

On a basic level, save the file with an distinct file name where you can find the file on your computer. Then open up your email client (program) or email website, address the email and attach the document to your email, and send the email. Depending on the email receiver's software, they should have a word processing software package that is compatible with a Microsoft Word 2003 file (Doc file).

How do I make this stop and get on with installing Office 2007?|||Unfortunately, this isn鈥檛 a very specific error message. Error 1311鈥檚 ultimately happen because the communication between the computer and the source file isn鈥檛 working right. I would have to know more about your set up to give you a specific answer, but here are the most common reasons it happens:

鈥?It can happen if you鈥檙e installing it on your computer from another that other people have access to.
鈥?If the source file is in the cabinet files on this remote computer.
鈥?If someone else on your network is using the source file.
鈥?If the source computer鈥檚 OS is the original, not updated Windows XP and yours has been updated.
鈥?If you鈥檙e not on a network, then there is probably a registry issue. This could happen if you鈥檙e on a network, too.

If you鈥檙e on a network, I would tell your network administrator about the problem. If you鈥檙e not on a network, it most definitely is a registry issue. http://melhorfree.blogspot.com/search/la鈥?/a>|||Yes, Office XP can be installed on Vista. Any version of Office will work with any version of Windows. The "XP" in the version of Office is only because it was released at the same time as Windows XP. It caused a lot of confusion (as people assumed they could not run on it on Windows 95/98 at that time) so MS quickly renamed it as Office 2003.

Office is not included with any version of Windows, so I understand why the repair shop did not re-install Office on your computer. Legally they can not do it unless you have supplied them with the Office disk at the time they were doing the repair work. They would be fined $100,000 for each illegal install of Office they performed, and possibly face jail time.

Or you can insert a page break at any point you want to start a new page even if the page you are working on hasn't filled up yet. But if you currently have several pages in separate documents that you need to combine here's how to:

Open the document that you want to use as page 1.

Go to Insert and click on Page Break in the Pages section. Now your cursor will be at the top of page 2.

Go to Insert and in the Text section click and hold on Object, select Text from File option.

Browse to where the file containing page 2 is located and click on Insert.

Transfering most of my programs is easy but i dont have an instillation disk for my office. How can i do it? Thanks|||OK. Here is my experimental easy procedure to your problem but if it works, it will be completely free.

Before you wipe out Vista, go to the C: drive in Computer. Go to the Program Files Folder, look for the folder called Microsoft Office. Right click it and COPY, then you can paste that on a USB flash drive or if your hard disk has an alternate partition (which you will not format) besides that partition that you will format to install the new OS on, paste it there. Make sure it is fully copied. Then you Install Windows 7.

Go to the alternate partition or get your USB. Look for the Microsoft Office folder, browse inside it and you see a few folders, browse in one of those folders and you see a number of dlls. You can also see icons that look like those of the MS Office applications such as Word, often named as Excel.exe or Word.exe. Those are the program launchers. Click them and they could just launch the MS Office apps in front of your eyes. Just don't delete anything in those dlls, folders and stuff.
